Want to shoot your "factory caliber" AR15 300yds in a laid back, non-pressure type match? Come to Catawba Valley Rifle and Pistol club Saturday morning before 10am.... 4457 Rifle Range Rd, Conover, NC 28613... just a few miles from I-40 exit 130. Directions on website - http://cvrp.org/ ....upon entering range, follow the road to the right to 300yd range



-Entry fee = $15, open to the public. NO LOADED RIFLES UNTIL ON THE LINE. WE RUN A COLD RANGE AT ALL TIMES. Eye and ear protection is required, open chamber indicators required and may be obtained at the range.
-40 rounds + sighters, best to bring 50-60 rds
- (4) 10 round timed stages, 2 at paper targets, 2 at steel targets, shot from bench and prone. Each relay will be 10 rounds in 2 min. Paper targets are standard Hi-Power 300yd targets. Steel stages are steel silhouettes of chickens and small pigs. Target pits will be in use.
-Any scope allowed, iron sight class if 2 or more shooters sign up. Bipods allowed........... NO rear rests/monopods, etc
- Sighters allowed prior to each stage (once for paper, once for steel) (you need to have a 300yd zero before the match, or be able to get zero`d in 5 or 6 rounds)
- Any AR15 using standard AR15 calibers that will feed from an AR15 magazine such as 223/556, 300 BO, 6.5 Grendel, 450BM, 458 SOCOM, etc. No wildcats or "long" AR10 actions or calibers. Ten(10) shot strings will be fired from magazine, no single loading.No ammunition allowed that will attract a magnet
- Gates open at 845, sign in at 930-945, safety brief at 945, first rounds downrange at 10am
-Cash prizes 1st-5th

A very informal, yet safe, match. None of the pressure of hipower, 3 gun, etc. Open to the public

Aw man... I wish you could have published this a few days ago. With a little more notice I would have re-arranged my schedule to be able to shoot this.

I loved shooting HP matches at CVRP back in the day! Is George Northam still around up there? He used to run the HP matches
 
George is still around occasionally. Haven't seen him in a while though.

Posting was kind of an afterthought, really should have been done a while back. I'll try to keep it bumped up.

Still working on a vintage match, probably a week or 2 after PHA's vintage 2 gun
