Are there any MG/SMG shoots/events in NC?

Just curious. I know of course about our neighbors to the west in Knob Creek, but what about NC?

Only one I've been a part of is when I organized a "men's event" for my Sunday School class and @TARHEELSTATE brought six out. :D

Brad Wyrick used to organize some. I recall that one was at a range near Snow Camp. I’m not aware of any current ones though.

I used to belong to a CMP group that ran 4-5 shoots per year at Camp Butner. The range we used there had angry ivan pop up targets out to 900m, so we always had a mix of machine guns and long range gas guns/bolt guns. Unfortunately the core group that ran it for 20+ years moved on. It's a good bit of effort since you have to provide a medic and two RSOs who have to go through a training session at Butner, and obviously can't shoot. You can rotate these people out, but that means you need additional people who have done the training. On top of that, you have to pay for insurance and arrange for a port-a-potty.

I have considered taking the group over multiple times, but it's a lot of time and effort. For now, I meet up with a close group of friends at Woody's or H2O when we want to shoot machine guns.

There are two places I know of that have them all the time. They're located near Fayetteville and Jacksonville....

One of the problems is that most ranges frown on full auto. Shawn moved the charity events away from DPRC due to pushback from the Board. At the first charity shoot a DPRC member did something to one of Brad's guns that ruined the barrel.

Woody's is the only range in the Triangle area that I'm aware of that allows FA.

It's not carte blanche at Woody's, either. I always ask Damon if it's OK for us to shoot them on whatever day we're planning, and we bring our own steel unless we're shooting semi-auto on the 550y range. Damon wants to make sure you know what you're doing, and not sending rounds over the berms.

H2O allows full-auto subject to monitoring and approval for the same reasons. We had one of our group shoots there today, as it turns out:
