I picked up an Argentine Hi Power not too long ago. This one was made under license from FN and FN inspectors were on-site to ensure that everything was kept to standard. I have a Hi Power Mk3 (shown) and have had 4 other Hi Power types (FEG, Argentine military, Mk3 and 1960s HP) in the past. I do like Hi Powers.

I just removed the magazine disconnect in the Argentine which lightened the trigger pull a tad. The Mk3 has a cleaner release but the Argentine feels like a slightly lighter pull. I'm thinking of installing a lighter hammer spring and ambi safety on the Argentine but everything works well now and might not once I start monkeying with it so I am undecided.

I really like the Argy guns. Nice!

Here is my commercial FM made after FN walked out the door and the license expired. The previous owner blasted off the coating and parked it. I added the ambi safety but left off the other side and ground down the pin.

I very much like your FM @rufrdr šŸ˜Ž

@cubrock should leave the room for this post...

I have a FM HP full size in very good original condition, and a matching FM Detective from the same year or very close. Can't post pics, or @cubrock will go nuts.

You are supposed to leave that Detective to me in your will.

How did the safety install go? I've read that on the Argentine Hi Powers the Browning ambi safety is drop in.

I bought a Mk3 ambi safety from Midway and put it in today I used a small c-clamp to hold the hammer back while reassembling it. The safety pieces were drop in, no fitting needed. I did have to reshape the right grip a bit to clear the right safety
