Basic at Ft Leonard Wood, MO Jan-Mar 1988
AIT at Ft Huachuca, AZ Apr-May 1988
103rd MI BN Wurzburg, Germany Jun 88 - Feb 90
Various Units Ft Bragg, NC Mar 90 - Feb 13

Infantry OSUT: Ft Benning, B Co. 2/58 IN - 2004

Iraq 2005-2009 various deployments with various units; 2/12 CAV being the most prominent/recognizable. In between I spent time at Ft Hood and other installations for schools.

Ft Jackson 2010-2013: Drill Sergeant School and subsequent DS duty, with finishing my career with a medboard working in S3 as assistant Ops NCO assigned to the 171st IN Bde

Ended as an 11B3X Staff Sergeant

30 years in, started in 1983 as 13F, then 11B and finished up as a 12B OPNS NCO in 2013. Two deployments, one to Kuwait and the other to Afghanistan. I absolutely hate being retired! I miss the deployments, the new neat equipment, but most of all, I miss the Soldiers and friends that I've made over the years. You never have friends like the friends that you go to war with!

Retired in Nov '08 with 20 yrs & change, as a 37F4P. Started out a 11C mortar maggot, spent a few years as a 91G Behavioral Science Specialist, 'fore going to jump school & re-classing PSYOP in '98.

3 tours in Germany, totalling 7 1/2 years, a year in Bosnia & a year in/all over Africa, over the course of several deployments. Did a bunch of sketchy, expensive, "secret squirrel" shit in some fairly exotic locales my last 10 years.

Don't miss the reindeer games or political BS, but miss my guys. Spent the majority of the 2nd half of my career as a platoon sergeant. Hands down, my favorite job in the Army.

After spending most of '95 - '08 at Ft Bragg, we punched outta the 'Ville & settled into our little corner of Alamance County.

Originally signed for 2 years, for the Army College Fund, intending to go do some vague notion of "great things". Woke up in Tuzla one July morning & realized it was my 10th "anniversary" & figured I might as well stick around for 10 more. lol...

Surprised that being on status & a JM, that the death star would ever let you leave.

It was pre 9/11. There were several fellow E-6's that got levied for the "trail", and recruiter at the same time I got orders to Drum. You could leave the deathstar but chances were the tractor beam would pull you back in after 3 years away.

Just ran across this thread and had to jump in, even though I wasn't Army - USAF here. I was an instructor at the USAF Crypto School at Lackland teaching fundamentals, HN-1, KG13 and KW26. This was back in 1962 through 1966.

Lot of lost in the woods of misery alumni here. Mine was oct 85, AIT in Ft lee VA... Yep, I was a supply Ninja.

76y actually.

I wasnt in but thank you to yall that served. My brother was 11C from 05 to 12. I was a contractor and spent some time in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. Hotter than i ever want to be again. No millitary id so we had to buy booze off base.

Oct 92, Basic at Jackson.
AIT, 31C at Gordon.
312th MI, LRSD at Hood, humped a radio for Rangers.
After that it's all a blur, fast forward nearly 10yrs. Got Sgt Stripes somewhere along the way.

Finally signed a Dec statement, did not want to go back to Seoul. Had enough Kimchi.

Went to work as a GS equivalent, Raytheon, ACS, Lockheed, Northrup etc.

Wife took a job at Duke so I played tag along to wonderful NC, left it all behind.

Thank you to my brothers who still wear the green suit.

SSG. Weakly. The man came in from 82nd and told us daily how much he hated our guts! Had another Soldier land in his chute and broke his back up. He couldn't jump anymore and hated being a DS! And yeah, he was nuts!

Started my military career at Parris Island, SC 26 Dec 1983. MOS 6054 Pnuematic/Hydraulic Mechanic on the F4S Phantom II. Stationed at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. Thought I could do better after watching my friends leave the USMC so walked away 12 Dec 1987. Fast forward to April 1998 after finding a girl to put up with me and having a kid and making the union official...I join the U.S Army. MOS 88M. Spent most of my career at Fort Bragg with "visits" to South Korea, Fort Carson and Fort Lost in the Woods. 5 combat deployments...Iraq x 3, Afghanistan x 2. I don't miss the military BS we all put up with but I do miss the people. Civilians Suck!!

Ft. Bennington school for boys harmony church B-8-2. July 82-Oct 82.
Then onto airborne school.
20 Nov jumped onto Sicily dz with my buddies in cohort 1 C 2/325.
We rotated to Vicenza Italy as a company in sep 83 (missed grenada by 1 month) and became A 4/325. The company disbanded in mar 85. The 3 year guys went home, us 4 year guys went back to the 82nd. CSC (recon) 2/325 for me.
Lots of good schools: jungle school, French commando school, 18th abn corp recondo school, and lots of fun training.
1 year in the reserves, about another 8 in the guard. Sniper school was my 'gentleman's course'. After that I was ready to leave. 11B on active, 11H in the guard.
