As I recall (remembering this has been close to 20 years now) it was very early season and tags weren’t sent out yet. He was a state employee or contracted by the state, and he basically had the authority to modify the number of tags issued to a club.Excuse my hunting reg ignorance but a wildlife biologist (presumably employed by the state) can simply hand out a dozen tags?
It makes sense from a management standpoint but also seems like one of those things the law would ignorantly forbid.
One big challenge we have IMO is that things are so very different from State to State.. .and everyone thinks "their" normal is THE normal. In NC a wildlife guy wouldn't have the authority to hand out tags. In other States, clubs are handled like argi is handled here in NC. FWIW... I bought a $5.00 doe tag in Michigan, for a particular Management Unit. .. that the state of Michigan said on their website didn't exist anymore. The store owner disagreed... . Good times- good times.
I think they should simply publish the name and address of any poachers, then blank out their online presence... just sayin' ...
