I feel like that's correct, and why he never carried a firearm, only LTL weapons on him during the show (watched a season of it years ago)

I am pretty sure they used wooden bullets during the Ferguson riots.
 
What did happen to the bean bag rounds and rubber bullets fired from shotguns? Those seemed to have worked pretty well

non-metallic projectiles are banned under the hague conventions, cant see them under x-ray

LTL is a good thing when you have backup LEO with you, when you are on your own things can get out of hand real fast.
I wonder why Kimber dose not market a police version of their Pepper Blaster II for law enforcement use. This device uses a 9mm blank
cartridge to propel a gel OC fluid up to 25 ft, it is very effective and would be a lot better then a Taser that may not have barb contact.

There used to be LTL like knight sticks, saps, lead filled gloves, batons, 8 D cell mag lights, etc... but the whiners said that they were too cruel to use. So LEO have less "tools" in the "tool box" to use before deadly force is an option.
 
I remember seeing a show on Discovery (?) Channel about LTL weapons. There were a bunch on neat things like a net gun that would shoot a net that would entangle a fleeing suspect and then shock them like a tazer. In testing it became clear that people caught in the net were very likely to hit their head on the way to pavement.
There was another thing for crowd control. It was like silly string, but turned to glue. Apparently it was too dangerous because people who got stuck in it would fight so hard they'd rip their own skin off.
 
Of course he used less lethal. If I remember correctly he was a felon and couldn't carry a firearm at one time.

Dad was a lawman for almost 50 years, the last 20 as Sheriff.
He says the worst thing they ever did to the beat cop was take away his nightstick. Dad was a good cop, he didn't wanna hurt you. He liked the nightstick because of it's versatility from mild to wild, and 90% of the time all you had to do was put it in your hand and the perp would give it up. Rarely did you have to pull a gun on anyone.

Oh yeah. He hated cop tv, cop movies, real or otherwise. Hated them, never watched and still doesn't to this day. I asked him one time why he didn't like these shows and he said "That's not real."
I left it at that and didn't push it.
I don't think it's the not-real part that bothers him as much as it is that these programs are completely absurd (still) and frequently insulting to anyone who does this crap for a living.

There was one exception, he liked Barney Miller. 👍

I have some bullets that dont have any lead.

They are 88 grain full copper +P hollow point rounds

Guess i have to throw them away since they are not lethal.

We've HAD less lethal alternatives for decades now and many are, in fact, in use routinely. Others are in use situationally.

If he wants to stand out as saying something actually meaningful, he should put forth some specifics that aren't already in use.

If only we could put Whoopi, Rosie, Al, Jessie or other like minded pundits in a cop uniform and have them make a few traffic stops or answer a domestic violence call st 2:00am. Any one remember when the mayor of Chicago went to live in the PJ 's and how that worked out ?
