Article: The SKS is still viable after a quarter of a century.

I love my dingy Type 56, despite it being well used, a bit heavy, 10 round clip fed and limited to fixed sights.

It is vastly different in design, but for practical utility it reminds me of another favorite, my Winchester 94.

Considering 95% of shots I'd take for any reason are within 200 yds, they provide a fair velocity out of 20" barrels, are fast firing, both can pass for an all-purpose sort of rifle.

ARs and AKs are of course more capable in particular ways. But for me, the more traditional form factor of the SKS and 94 are much nicer to carry around for long periods. Both great truck guns too.
