Where did you find it in stock?'Finally' was able to get a new 457 MTR and a Bushnell MatchPro 6-24x50. Headed to the range today to fire its first shots

The MTR with walnut stock is showing up again on Gun Broker but price is over $800. Sportsman Warehouse has a better price when they get them in. I put my email in the "notify me" area. When they email you that they have them, don't wait, order it. They are gone in 24 hours. I pick up my orders in Greensboro with no mailing or ffl fees. I think the last price was $719.00 plus tax on the MTR. Worth every penny.
Woo! Congrats on getting the rifle you wanted! Hope it shot the way you hoped it would. 
I sure am curious to know how much better the MTR barrel is than my Varmint, and what the real difference is. Just the chamber?

Gorgeous rifle! Keep us posted on how she shoots. I’ve got the 457 Pro Varmint and curious if I should have spent the extra.
Gorgeous rifle and that scope is a winner for rimfires! I had one on my .22 for a while.
I found a guy selling a 24" threaded barrel but not 'match' type for $200 shipped.
I did think about it.
But the Lothar Walther 20.5" is $335 plus shipping ... this could be the step-up, in case I decide I need that someday.
Kind of watching to see what other people do and then say about it, first.
And I don't want to 'improve' the rifle past the glass I have on it, if that makes any sense.
The OP may have the best mix and I hope he will post some range results.
I ended up using a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56. I was more accustom to the Vortex adjustments and it was easier for me to dial (and see the numbers).lol

If you are happy with the accuracy you are getting, keep buying the same ammo and practicing. There is no set standard that the MTR barrel is any better than yours. Some shoot better and some don't.
It's shooting 1/2 MOA or maybe a smidge better, with cheap TAC-22. Oddly, it doesn't like much else, so far.
Obviously, can't complain here ... so I won't! ;-)
Now, if I could only buy some magazines for this darned thing.

That sounds good to me. And I understand, I'm about to buy a VPT MTR, and will be on the hunt as well. I only have two of the 10 rounders. I've got a B-14r for sale and it has three factory 10 rounders. Kind of makes me not want to sell it for the mags.
