At the er with some odd symptoms

Ok so I may be back but I didn't get good news, looks like my intestines are wrapped around each other. Fluids and a MRI are going to tell us more.

MRI? What do they think is going on that an MRI is the key?
Speaking as someone who has had this diagnostic procedure done, they give him some stuff to drink that glows under the MRI and can see exactly what is going on with his intestines.

There can be several reasons for twisting intestines. Praying the MRI indicates something treatable by medication and diet.

I'm in medical imaging...MRI is usually done after ct and endoscopy for specific reasons. It is rarely the first choice for the intestines which leads me to think his er visit didn't give him a complete result.
Not doubting your credentials. I have diverticulosis. I live in the Raleigh area. It was the first thing they did ten years ago when my UNC educated primary care doc sent me to a surgeon to check out my pains.

Interesting...ct is the standard at most places due to much lower cost and much faster exam time. MRI is used now in cases of enterography but it's a long test that is much more prone to artifact than ct. MRI does great on solid organs and is used a lot for certain organs but they cost so much and take so long it isnt easy for the er to get them done unless it is stroke or spine related.

Either way dont be surprised if your gi dr does something totally different or the exact same thing as the er again...doctors are often idiosyncratic.

Hope it's nothing that can't be fixed easily.
Prayers to you Russell.
You got to get better, I still want my planner. :D

The bowel rest did the trick I got to come home yesterday. The doctors kept asking me if I was sure if I have never had any abdominal surgery I told them that if they get fined the scar that we are all gonna have a long conversation because I don't ever remember having any. I will tell you that and all liquids diet is an effective way to lose weight but it's deafening not the most enjoyable. The week before the bloating started I weighed 215, when I went into the hospital I had bloated all the way up to 240 and when I left I came out at 207. Pretty drastic swing considering that it all happened within 7 days.

Yike! We'll call that the "(rs)Kahle Diet"... and avoid it like the plague! :)

But good to hear you're home for the holidays and doing better. Thanks for the good news update.
