Atlanta Police Actively Walking Off Job

Gah! I'ma go all Bill the Cat. I just don't "get" people these days. Losing their ever loving minds. Non stop lunacy from the left & the sheep blithely doing whatever they're manipulated into "feeling".

Stop the planet. I want off.

If you thought the police used excessive force ? Wait until the average citizen starts protecting family and all they worked for !

You have no idea what’s coming.”

WTF? How is it POTUS's job to deal with her city's issues? Gah. I gotta shut up 'fore I get my blood pressure up.
My bad wording; try this:

Checked YouTube.
The mayor has been busy giving interviews.
Locally, she assured the city that a few cops off the job would not matter and Atlanta would get help from its neighbors (DENIED).
Nationally, she was too busy talking to Anderson Cooper about how Trump's executive order was inadequate to rather than addressing the police walkout in her city.

Gotcha. She's still a turd. Don't wanna face what a glittering paradise her city has become under her "leadership".

I wasn't bangin' at you. My WTF moment was her throwing shade at the President, like it was his job to run/fix her own mess.
She wasn't criticizing Trump's EO about anything specific to Atlanta. She was generally auditioning to be Biden's running mate by bad-mouthing Trump. But she also wasn't acknowledging that the APD had just walked off the job.

While things will get worse before they get better, the legal system is woefully inadequate in dealing with the criminal trash. People need to rise up, take responsibility for their own safety and stop relying on govt. and dial a prayer. Ultimately, the criminal repeat offense rate should trend identically towards zero.

I just sold a nice 1911 holster to a guy in Atlanta and this is what he said after I said, “Stay safe”.

From five minutes ago...

"Thanks. It’s not bad here at all. I grew up in Miami when there were real riots in Overtown and Liberty City in 80 and 82, like LA in 92. We’re actually about 2.5 miles from where the incident and protesting happened. It really has been 99% peaceful. "

And now ANTIFA (or equivalent) steps in and starts "community patrols" to fill the void, basically daring the government to use force to stop them.

As is written in the playbook.
Hopefully enough actual men in Georgia to counter that activity. War is a brewin it appears. Violent neo hippies vs classic American patriots.

It’s the civil war they don’t know they don’t want, but will hit them hard if they “move into the suburbs”. IMO

I was listening to the latest Primary and Secondary modcast, Chuck Pressburg broke out some visuals ( I haven't seen the video yet) about insurgencies and how they begin. One of the basis for a revolution is demoralizing the police, government and military. He believes the core beliefs of many of the current groups is communism. This is a push towards insurgency and then revolution. He could be on to something. If you take what we are seeing and keep pouring fuel on the fire, the next step is armed and aggressive right wing groups rising up. Any of you who are old enough and pay attention enough can recall that in third world countries this is how things tend to happen. Once the insurgency reaches a point where local law enforcement is paralyzed, groups will rise up to provide protection. There will be atrocities on both sides. I don't know if we will move to the next stage or not, however, It certainly appears that we are in the beginning stages of something new and bad. Typically this would all blow over at some point, but if the Covid lock down comes back, police pull back from urban areas and let crime become rampant, if Government continues to appear broken and impotent...well then all bets are off. Most of us who are 2 A guys don't realize just how many people there are who do not believe like we do. There are huge populated parts of this country that have a completely different life experience than we do. If these places go completely to hell, the spill over is going to move to rest of the country. It could happen. I think there are some very wealthy people who are actively trying to make this happen. I am not a believer in conspiracy, but I always tell my kids to pay attention, I think we should all be paying attention.

This brings up a story... No too long ago, up north there was 80's hair band playing in a small club. They set off some pyro inside that started a small fire, at first everyone kept partying, thought it may be part of the show, as the conflagration grew people can be seen still wondering what's going on in the video, the people further back couldn't see what the people in the front could. At some point there was a panic to get out the one door in the front. They waited too long to act. People were literally piled on top of each other at the door. They were stuck fast and people outside were pulling on them to get them out but the press of bodies made it impossible. They were stacked up on each other like wood piled up in the doorway. People burned up from the legs forward. Their chest up was out side. Lots of people died horrible deaths. But what i remember is the video of when it started and people not realizing the situation had reached a turning point. They didn't grasp that they needed to act. That sh#d had gone tits up and they needed to act. I hope we are not going down a road like this. But i tell you my radar is up and watching. We live in a rather insulated part of the country. Let us hope it stays that way.

Can only find scanners for zone 5 and 6...has veracity been co firmed on other scanners?

So who does this make madder in an election year? Do voters blame the people burning stuff down and make certain assumptions about their political leanings?

Or do they blame the existing government for not controlling it? I see comparisons to 1968 but the media influence back then was nil and obviously social media didnt exist at all (more entities to blame).

Thoughts?

this [if real] gets used to justify being able to vote on Facebook or twitter so that voter turnout is favorable. Or maybe they use the american idol hotline infrastructure. I dunno, I’m not a doctor.

It will obviously start with Orange Man Bad. After that, it SHOULD mean an anti-incumbent groundswell, but realistically it will mean an pro-woke groundswell. If you are a non-incumbent, progressive, POC then your campaign ads have already been written.

This is quite true, and brings to mind an interesting thing I experienced many years ago. While sitting in a college class studying wildlife management, the professor asked the guys in the class if they hunted. Most everyone raised their hands. The professor then went around the room, asking each person who raised their hands what percentage of the US population they thought also hunted.

The firs guy said 98%. Professor said no, too high. Next person said 96%. Professor said too high and kept moving on, with each student going slightly lower and the faces getting more and more bewildered. Finally one student, who sounded very unsure of himself said 80%. Professor said "no, still too high." Finally the professor asked me, and I knew that hunters made up a small part of the population. I guessed 20%. I heard snickers and saw rolling eyes from my classmates. No way it could be that low right? The professor said "Close. The correct answer is 15%." The room got quiet enough you could hear a pin drop.

The TL/DR version of all of this is that its easy for people to surround themselves with like minded people and end up living in a bubble, assuming that most folks out there are more or less just like them, when in reality, there are a lot of people who live and think very differently than we do. My professor's point was that we would have to stand up for hunting rights and wildlife stewardship if we wanted it to continue into the future. Don't make the dangerous assumption that everyone does it, so you don't have to worry about it going away.

I get the feeling that a similar moment is coming for pro 1A/2A patriotic Americans. A lot of people are going to get caught with their pants down. There are a lot of people in the US who have never owned a gun, hate the police, and think that capitalism is the cause of all the worlds problems, and these people usually see us as the bad guys.

Conversely, I don’t think we realize just how many people there are who DO believe as we do.

If you listen to the media, they’d have you believe that our “little“ group of liberty-minded, pro-RTKBA folks are on the “fringe”; that we’re in the minority...

I think it’s bullsh*t; first and foremost, because the media is pushing that narrative and we all should be aware by now that lying is a way of life for the majority of the media.

Second, what I am seeing tells a different story. The level of discontentment and dissension among “the people” is higher now than I have ever witnessed. Folks who were “comfortable” 10-15 years ago aren’t so apathetic anymore. Folks who used to keep their opinions about .gov tyranny hidden in some dark, dusty corner are now openly defiant and quite militant about where they stand...almost like a, “Keep pushing...I dare you!” attitude.

This is why I believe all we're going to get out of this crap is:

- more taxes (gotta pay for all the new bureaucracy that will just have to be created to deal with all this new feelings stuff)
- more gun control
- more institutionally approved racism (only way to make things 'fair' is to make sure the right people get the right freebies now)

People "taking care of their own" means "people dying", which will be used against us as soon as possible.

I wonder what percentage of white workers from the outlying areas of Atlanta chose to stay home today. If the blacks in power can prove they can control their fringe groups and maintain peace the whites will be easily swayed into going even further into police reform and other exchanges of power. Things can and will change in a hurry once the door is opened.

In grad school, one of our ethics lecturers told us about how everybody should be vegetarian, and hunters were evil, and blahblahblah.
I tore his argument apart, went through the plague of wasting diseases, the number of animals struck by vehicles every year that died slowly, that government regulation of hunting is making all of those problems worse, that there are organizations set up to let hunters donate meat to food banks, that hunters will try for a fast clean kill both to reduce their work in tracking the animal and because it's part of the ethic of the hunt, and asked him how many animals he'd see suffer for every one not killed quickly by a hunter. he said he didn't know those things and was a little less educated on the subject than he thought. I told him, in front of the class, that it was obvious he didn't know what he was talking about or else he'd have realized he should not to even start on the topic. I believe he'd been giving that lecture for a LONG time and never been challenged.
Then a vegetarian friend asked me if i was going to tell him i'd been a vegetarian for 20 years. Nope, not relevant to the fact that the prof was spouting ignorance.

A smart teacher will learn every angle of a discussion as well as it strengths and merits and be able to support and refute it regardless of their own bias or experience.

In reality they probably only number a small percentage too.
