    I would like to ask that everyone take part. These are not about winning and losing, but having fun (and that is coming from someone who normally hates that phrase). It is fun to get out there and shoot these targets, so get out there and have some fun, and post your targets no matter your score! We all enjoy seeing everyone's sheets and discussing.

    Standard CFF Monthly Rimfire Benchrest Challenge Rules
    - Target Size: Standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper - Choose the "Print to fit" option when printing.
    - Target distance: 50 yards
    - Any shooting position you'd like
    - Front rests, bipods, front/rear shooting bags, bunny ears, ... etc. are all ok.
    - No full length rifle mechanical rail/sled type rests allowed
    - Iron sights or optics of your choice are all allowed
    - All done on the honor system. Shoot it, score it, post it.
    - Winner chooses the target and challenge for the next month.
    - Post copy of your target, setup, where shot, and score

    You know from previous months, that I like playing games, so Let's play darts!

    Standard Dart Board.
    1. The scores are labeled on the outside of each slice of the "pie" (from the far outer ring until you reach the bullseye). (20pt slice, 19pt slice, etc)
    2. Bulleye has 2 sections - Green (outer) ring = 25pts and Red center circle = 50pts.
    3. The green/red ring around the outer edge of the pie gives you Double the points of the slice. 2x 20 = 40pts
    4. The green/red ring through the middle of each slice gives you Triple the points of the slice. 3x 20 = 60pt
    5. Example: The 20 Point Slice - Top Slice - outer red ring (2x 20 = 40pts), the black piece below it is 20pts, the next middle red ring is 3x 20 = 60pts, and the final black piece is 20 pts.

    Scoring:
    1. Maximum of 22 shots (20 slices and two rings on the bullseye) - You do NOT have to take all 22 shots.
    2. Best Edge scoring, so you get the score of the highest area broken by the shot.
    3. Only 1 shot counts per slice and per ring of the bullseye. Hitting the double or triple counts as hitting the entire slice once (but you get more points).
    4. If more than one shot touches a slice or bullseye section, you get ZERO points for the section(s) with multiple shots.
    5. So Choose carefully where you shoot! (That is why you don't have to shoot 22 times)
    6. Most points wins! (I believe the max total is 705 points, if you can fit in separate shots on the 2 bullseye sections)

    Tie Breaker(s):
    1. Fewest number of shots taken. Someone could score 177 points with 4 shots, but someone else could score 177 with 6 shots or even in 18 shots.
    2. If necessary, cheapest price (per round) of the going rate for ammo used, based on whatever site we can find with any ammo used by those that end in a tie. We'll start with Outdoor Limited, then Brownell's, then Midway, and hope we're done by then.
    Please ask questions if that is not clear, and I apologize if I made it too complicated. It is more basic than it looks.

    I included a Black and White copy if that is easy or better for you to shoot over the color copy. Same rules apply.

    I hope it works well. I enjoy the games. I have had this one on my radar for a while, but had not downloaded it until now. I keep the older games printed in my range bag for all outings.

    I like that it has small areas and large areas, so no matter your scope, you should still be able to see well enough to aim in the larger pie sections. And I always like the ones that make you strategize some too.

    For those that don’t spend a lot of time with dartboards.... note that the highest scoring area on the target is NOT the center of the bullseye.

    Looks like a fun target to take to the range with a buddy. Maybe play some 301 or 501. Double in, double out, just to make it interesting.

    Good call Me. I wanted to make another most that sort of showed the double and triple and bullseye to help make that more obvious, and this helps.

    This challenge looks like loads of fun. Now I need to find a place to shoot.

    What's the deadline for turning in targets?

    I have a scoring question. I am not familiar with darts. So is each slice from the outer to the bullseye only to be shot one time? As in this picture I have hit the red outer ring in the 20 and the red inner ring in the twenty. Do I get zero for the slice or points for each red ring? 20190803_145814.jpg

    It looks like rule #9 applies to your question, and you would get 0 points for the 20's.

    What I see, based on the rules listed, is that entire part of the target is a 50 or 59.

    -multiple hits in the 1 = 0
    -multiple hits in the 20 = 0
    -multiple hits in the 12 (I think that’s what’s to the left of 5) = 0
    -multiple hits in the green center ring = 0
    -1 shot in the red bullseye = 50
    -1 shot in the 9 = 9? (The outermost 12 looks like it tore into the 9 so wouldn’t cancel it out, but the one closest to the center might be clean?)

    Great example for us to make sure we understand the scoring. It’ll be hard to have many clean shots near the center.

    Edited to add the single 9.

    I will try again. I tried 2 targets today but not real sure what I was doing. I was trying to shoot the red and green rings in the higher scoring slices and I have multiple shots in several slices. Gives me a good excuse to head back out to the range!

    So this bullseye would be zero? I hit it once then thought maybe try for the geen too. Guess I should have left it alone! 20190803_153123.jpg

    Yes, a 0 as I read it.

    I haven’t attempted the target, but I can’t see taking more than 11 shots at this point.

    Correct. Zero points.

    It would be impossible for us to tell how many shots hit if we keep aiming at the spot, so I had to make a rule that would negate the reasons for attempting to shoot the same spot multiple times.

    That is where the strategy comes in. Knowing when to quit and deciding where to aim. What is too close and should I try to squeeze in another??

    I think you are definitely going to be careful how you decide to take your shots. Dpending on how you are shooting that day and how the wind is doing, deciding when to push it.

    We definitely need to get some posts up. I think our few examples might be scaring people off. It is sort of like the card game a few months ago where they couldn’t touch. We just have to condition our brains to NOT shoot at the same places.

    I shot with my uncle this weekend. We weren’t planning on shooting our 22lrs, but I was telling him about it so we pulled out his CZ and we played around a little.

    We had about six targets up on the board together. I got lost a few times and shot the wrong target, and then couldn’t figure out where that perfect shot on the 7 went. It is on the next target!

    We tried to shoot at it the max number of times and it made me feel good about trying it with my own rifle later.

    I was a little worried we would have to play it safe and not shoot at every slice, but I definitely think you can shoot at them all if you are on. Just don’t wait too late and get left with windy days!

    I went to the TSC match at Conover on Saturday so I didn't get a chance to shoot this target again yet, but I think I understand it better now. I should have skipped the TSC match and shot this one. I did terrible!

    Ok. I shot a target for score. I hope I did it right! 15 shots for a score of 349. Let me know if anyone sees it different. I added 50 for bullseye, but had zero for 7, 19 and 3 for multiple hits. I was shooting a CZ 455 with bipod on front bag on rear and Athlon Helos BTR 6-24×50 scope and Geco Match 22 ammo. 20190825_194618.jpg 20190825_194650.jpg

    Looking good. I counted 349 also. CZ shooting well. I like it!

    Went for the doubles and skipped the triples. There is your safe score. Now, you get to get aggressive. :eek:)

    I need to go back and pull the one I shot with my uncle and at least post it up, until I can shoot here. I won't get to until after next weekend. This month has been a crazy month, and it rained all morning yesterday when I planned to shoot.

    Yes you do!
    I agree that it is fun, when you are shooting well. As long as the wind is down too.

    Because it wasn't my rifle and was fun, I took a shot at every slice, except for both Bulls BW!!

    I tried it again today! I shot several triples but couldn't do any better then my posted target. Best I got today was 325. It was a little breezy, may have to try again!;)

    Same rifle as usual. Forgot to take the pic this time out, but it is a CZ 455 with Lilja barrel, Atlas bipod and rear bags. I did use Eley black this month, because I have a brick that I picked up off a guy and wanted to test it out. It is so tight in the chamber!!! Never has been a problem, so I think I might have to go ahead and brush the chamber. I could not eject some casings. Only thing I can think of because it likes Eley sizing.

    Think I shot 581. I included a pic of my score calculation too. Thought I had that 8, but I missed, and I didn’t bother going back to shoot it.

    Just printed my targets. Thought I’d done it last month but can’t seem to find them. Headed to the range in the morning...hoping for the one open bay that goes out to 50yd.

    Might even try some other ammo this time.

    Sounds good. Hope you shoot awesome. Give me a reason to go back out!

    I’m starting to remember why this thread died out. We need some more people to jump in. These games are the most fun I have shooting. Unfortunately the air rifles don’t shoot this accurately, so I always get sucked back in to my CZ.

    Good luck BigWaylon! Hope to see some great targets. We sure could use some more people posting targets. I look forward to shooting some targets every month and these games give me some different challeneges. I really enjoy it and the more shooters we can get, the more fun it would be.

    A couple scoring questions before I try to tally mine up...because I thought rules 3 & 4 were clear, but maybe not.

    Looking at the 8, 16 and 7 here:

    52E9975D-6863-4A46-88E0-9B089EF84361.jpeg

    I would count it as:
    8 = 8
    16 = 0
    7 = 14

    I lost out on my triple 16 when the shot on the 8 crossed the line. But since that shot is the only one on the 8 slice, I still get 8 points, right?

    And since I airballed my double 7, and hadn’t reached the max of 22 shots, I took another. That’s where the “one shot per slice” has me a little confused. Is it one attempt? Or one hit?

    And then on the 10, 6 and 13 here:

    34729994-59FF-4153-86D4-9B1123488CA9.jpeg

    I would count it as:
    10 = 20
    6 = 0
    13 = 13

    Agree? Or not?

    And then hypothetically...in case it happens to anybody else. If the only shot in the 6 was the top one, is that a single or a triple? It breaks the line, but not the color.

    Oh yeah, and it wasn’t intentional, but this may be the shot of the day:

    B74B820D-4D2E-49EA-A42D-99BC1429E2BA.jpeg

    I didn’t think it would be possible to get a 25...without hitting either the 50, or the narrow end of one of the slices.

    I agree with your scoring, and you only hit the 7 once. If the top 6 was a single hit, I would call it a triple, it broke the line. Besides, we are shooting for fun, not like there is an expensive prize on the line. But what do I know. Maybe you should have tried for a bullseye too!:)

    Completely agree with your scoring. You made the right calls.

    I would say the shots in the target count. If you miss, try again. Looked good to me.
