Baby copperheads look the same as adults but have green tails.

I think I still have a jar full of them somewhere. Some years ago I was getting crab grass out from under some cross ties. Flipped one over from a squatting position and ended up face to face with 2 full grown and 10 baby copperheads. It was a cool March morning and they didn't move. I walked back in the house, got the 686 and loaded up 6 rounds of rat shot plus one speedloader. First 2 rounds were for the grownups and the other 10 just sprayed the wad of youngens.

Copperheads have a copper colored head. It's got the head of a viper (angular) with viper eyes, not round ones. Heat sensing pits behind the eyes like a viper. And if in doubt, they also have a bunch of Xs that mean DONT TREAD ON EM
