baby's first

Once you get a good technique down, it won’t matter all that much. 9mm, 45, Glock, 1911,... it’s what works for you and what youve trained on.

When I was more into competition I shot a heavy 1911 double stack that held 20 rounds and routinely got my ass slaughtered by a girl with a Glock 9mm that was limited to 10 rounds. Actually, everyone did.

Indian not arrow.
That makes sense. Excited to go through this experience and find my gun. Thanks again everyone

It's great to hear from folks that want to get into shooting because it's fun, and not because they are scared, or they want one because the Dems are going to outlaw them, etc.

Ann Coulter once wrote, "You don't often need a gun, but when you do, there's not a good substitute". It's a great hobby, and a few years ago I started thinking I'd like to try deer hunting. And that's been a lot of fun as well. I used to tell my wife I don't have any more invested in my guns than a good set of golf clubs, but I can't say that any more.

I'd also like to segway into hunting. I prefer to be as self sufficient as possible.

I don't want steal @Squanchy s thunder but I belong to a range in alamance county. I'll offer you the same invite. I'm retired and can go during the week when less crowded if that's better for you.

Family traditions?

He's already sent me a PM unfortunately I have to go to a public range. I figured him upgrading his account was worth the trade off of letting him shoot my precovid ammo lol.

Supporting this community is more than worth it. Unfortunately I'll have to go with who ever has the most guns lol but seriously why do I have to pick just one of you? I dont know anyone out here but coworkers and neighbors

Listen to this. I should’ve heeded this advice a few weeks ago before I publicly made an ass of myself. I used only Glocks when I first started shooting and due to my poor technique/experience, I didn’t shoot them well so I sold them off (I didn’t shoot any gun well at the time). Had every 9mm, .40 (except the long slides) Glock as well as the single stacks. Some BS about grip angle, yada yada, me just making excuses for my own shortcomings. I went through just about every other gun manufacturer besides Glock trying to find the right pistol for me.

I was at the range the other week, my buddy had a Glock 19, I said “why not.” It was hard for me to admit it but I once again fell in love with the 19, shot it just as well if not better than my other handguns. It took me 4 years and around ~23k rounds of ammo to realize a Glock is as good as a shooter as any, arguably better in a lot ways. It’s me who needed to improve, not Glock.

I now have a Glock 19 Gen 5 FS I picked up from a CFF member last week and am using it as my home-defense/nightstand gun. I plan on picking up more Glocks as soon as I’m able to. I cringe looking back at how dumb I sounded bashing on them but hey, live and learn. I know I won’t make that mistake or the mistake of selling my Glocks again

I'm a member at DPRC. I really enjoy shooting outdoors at steel with rifles and pistols. Good recruitment tool ammo/membership. Hope he joins us.

Your assumption may be incorrect.
We have our own pony express, i'm told. I'd guess that if somebody knew somebody, a sample gun might show up.
And the offers might increase if you can find your own ammo to shoot.

My old neighbor used to tell new shooters to buy a gun, Any gun, go shoot it, and adjust to your taste. He would also say he would buy any gun you bought and didn't want for half price 🤣

Sounds like a great deal for your neighbor haha. Think I'll "try before I buy" and "cry once buy once". Picked up my permit today, going to mass tomorrow for the first time since I was a kid...feeln southern :)
