While the Coleman cans are nice. I ordered a few of these smaller 3.88 oz cans from Amazon. They nest nicely in the Stanley pit along with the Etekcity stove. I'm keeping the big ones for home and car camping use and the little ones for backpacking.

The Coleman 1 pound cylinders? There must be 60 at Academy in Burlington. I bought 2 of those as well. They had an end cap, the regular shelf, and a top shelf full of them.
The little camping ones. Stopped in yesterday and got a flat (12 cylinders) of the one pounders for under 50 bucks. $9.99 a 3 pack.

I have one of these and a gas cylinder in each bag I own. Also have a couple of esbit stoves that take the fuel cubes. The gas stove always rides in my stainless Stanley pot that i keep in each bag
Can this also run on the isobutanol fuel or just the butane/propane mixture? Couldn’t find anything on that.

I haven’t the foggiest idea. I haven’t tried. Give it a shot, what’s the worst that could happen?

Ok guys. I'm looking for a small stove that I can take camping but will also work in a SHTF scenario.

I like the jetboil but it seems bulky. There's also the alcohol stove, the little fuel tab stove, and the little stove that just screws on to the different gas canisters. And many more...

What do you have and why? Thanks!
IMG_20180719_200019.jpg Uses tabs, wood or booze, my fave! Have several stoves, but this is the power outage one. With the big pot behind it I can do tea water or food. The BoB stove is a trangia, small, also multi fuel. The bigger coleman with propane doesn't get much use.IMG_20180719_200019.jpg

I snagged a Solo Stove Campfire last week when they were running a 20% off coupon. I'm very happy with it so far. I was strongly eyeballing the Titan but decided it was just a touch too small to for intended usage (SHTF cook stove). The Campfire is really not that big either, but it is large enough to use normal kitchen cookware on. I really like that it basically runs on sticks and twigs, charcoal, or anything you can burn while NOT dependent on fuel canisters. I'm really impressed with how clean and efficient it burns. Very little smoke once it gets going and no chunks remaining, just fine ash to dump out afterwards.

Currently there is a 15% off promo. Code = SMORE15

I backpacked with alkyhol, but years ago I stopped carrying any fuel atall... just a stove that burns little sticks. First I had a BushBuddy, but I like the BushCooker better.

I use jet boil. I've had the same tank for a couple years. It last forever if your smart about usage.

If I can cook over a fire I do that. I understand that might not be the best idea in a shtf situation so I have the jet boil.

What kind of cook ware do you use when using these stoves. I’ve got a little msr that works for boiling water for dehydrated foods and stuff but would like to get something to cook on while camping.

Gram Weenies like tiny little small volume pots, but if'n yer gonna melt snow to make water, a quart size pot is the smallest practical choice. I use Titanium fer small pots, an' Aluminum fer quarts.
