Hey all! I have been in the market for an AR pistol for some time now. I was going to get a 11.5” BCM but they have been sold out everywhere. During my search I recently ran across Barnes Precision. I found that they offer a 11.5” AR pistol for $850. The BCM is $1400 ish. I called around and no one seems to have the Barnes in stock right now either. Based on them being a local company (Apex) I was wondering if any of y’all have one and how you like it? I’m also wondering about quality and how you would compare it to others on the market (DD, BCM, Colt etc).

I do not own anything from Barnes but many folks here at CFF do and I have never heard anything other than very positive reports.

Based on what I have heard everyone on here say I would not hesitate to pick up something from them. Hopefully some Barnes owners will be along to validate this...

Fuquay Gun got a pallet of Barnes rifles late last week as I recall and I think they were gone in a day.

And I’ve owned one for about eight years. Two thumbs up. Would buy again.

I believe @CZfool68 has a BPM AR pistol. I have their carbine and have nothing but good things to say about it. Fit and finish are very good, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger (with a round chambered for those that will nitpick) and just plain works great

Barnes are a bit heavy but rock solid. The man cares greatly about accuracy and quality. But, he is not the speediest at getting items made. They are well worth the wait for most people and i am quite fond of supporting local businesses. So I would suggest trying to find a shop local to you that carries them and Wil let you be put on a waiting list.

I don't think I have ever read a bad review about Barnes. I would love one of his pistols.

I also saw Fuquay Gun and gold had a big shipment of them arrive if there are any left at this point....

Yeah I called Fuquay gun and they said they did not have any .556 left. I called Barnes directly today and the lady I spoke with also recommended calling Fuquay. Said they sent them 70 guns (not sure how many of each caliber). She said they can be ordered from them directly and shipped to an FFL but the wait time right now is 8-12 weeks. She said they have various orders shipping out soon but she doesn’t know if they have been spoken for already at local gun stores.

I heard recently that Barnes has a lot of their resources devoted to satisfying a .Mil contract.

I’ve got a carbine too. Both have been excellent in my amateur hands. Zero issues.

As others have said. BPM makes great AR platform rifles. I own 2 myself.

Can't go wrong either way, I think quality wise they are equal.

Call FGG ... see if they’ll let you get on a waiting list for the next BPM shipment ... if so it is worth the wait.

I T&E the heck out of them. Held up to everything I’ve done to them. I selected them to replace the Office rifles where I work. So impressed with them I purchased a few personal rifles in 5.56 and .300 black out. Like someone said above, he has some military and other contracts that keep him busy, but I think they are worth the wait.

I own a 16" and 11.5" in 5.56.
Recently picked up the 11.5" AR pistol, haven't shot a lot, but about 200 rounds with no hiccups.

My Barnes rifle is my favorite of the bunch. Rock solid. I have the basic patrolman. Really like the rails on both, slim. Nickel boron BCGs are an easy clean.

Think they offer tremendous weapons at a great price and they're local. A friend raced to FG&G last Thursday and bought two rifles. I'd for sure call them and see if you can get your name on one.

Thanks for the info. After calling essentially every dealer they list on the website and none of them having any guns, I placed an order to Barnes directly. Wait time is 8-12 weeks, but she said if I find one in the meantime I can cancel my order with them with no issues. Idk how many they normally produce but with everything going on right now no one seems to have any AR’s of any kind.

I follow both Barnes and FG&G on FB. Just happened to see last Wednesday afternoon they both announced a shipment that came in that afternoon.

My buddy called, couldn't make it before they closed. Said they only hold for the day. He drove down Thursday morning when they opened and snagged two rifles.

If you ordered one from Barnes, maybe they'll give the heads up what day they'll be delivered. I've heard he's running as fast as he can. Hope you land one, you'll enjoy it.

I have a BPM 300blk that I bought once it appeared Osama was going to be elected years back. I also ordered another complete upper in 5.56 18". It took them a bit to make due to the demand but they were very good CS wise. Half way through the wait they announced FDE color. I emailed and was able to change the color at no cost. FDE was just coming on to the market at that time across the AR makers. As others have said they are a bit heavier than others and I think all are NiB coatings for the internals. .

I currently still have 2 BPM rifles, they are rock solid and have no issues with them.
I had a small issue with a upper I ordered from them several years ago, Andrew personally called me and was super apologetic about the issue, which was basically cosmetic. He went out of his way to resolve the issue and did way more than he had to.

I've been to his shop a couple of times and it's a pretty impressive operation....his rejects are higher quality than some others put out as their high end stuff.

Where do you order a BPM pistol? I don't see it on their website. If it's configured more or less how I want I'll get one.

Can't order complete guns from BPM due to their license. Have to buy from a dealer.

Packman (who posted as I was doing this double-quote) says otherwise. ;)
