Battery Oaks Meet and Greet Picture Thread

As an outsider and introvert, I can attest to the kindness and fellowship of everybody there. The best part was meeting good folks and seeing some of Billy's amazing collection . I can't thank him and his wife enough for opening their estate to us and arranging this whole event, even if I did shoot the BMG like a floppy ragdoll. I'm also grateful for all the other CFF staff and other Battery Oaks regulars that made me feel so welcome and worked to make this event possible.

Had a great time talking to @Stick Man , @bigfelipe , and @BatteryOaksBilly after the crowd thinned out.

It was great to meet new friends and put the faces with the names. I enjoyed everyone's company and had a great time watching the shooting contest. We have
some talented shooters. Thumbs up for Billy and Ronnie Sue for having hosting this wonderful event.
Our thanks to YOU ole Pard for all that wonderful cooking!

Thanks y’all. I’m glad @Chdamn convinced me to try them both. It was a cool experience and my son thinks I’m a real badass, now o_O

All is said was “If you want to get with me, you betta shoot that BMG.”

Thought you enjoyed talking to some of us BEFORE the crowd thinned out. Guess I wasn’t cool enough. :D

Definitely y'all too, but I clam up a little in really large groups with lots of stuff going on; too single minded. I was looking forward to hanging out and such, but everybody ducked out so early.

Thanks, and I'll pass that on to the respective parties. Next time I'll know to bring more apple dumplins.
You brought the apple dumplings!?! Son, those things were delish!!!

Big thank you to Billy and his wife for hosting all of us and those who helped put this together,
great food, the door prizes and those that participated in the 50/50 drawing!

I always walk away a little smarter after visiting this forum or at the meet and greets.
What could be better then having a chance to shoot a .50BMG, shooting two of them,
MP5's, several S&W 9mm and the rifle Billy brought out to shoot.

First photo shows my Micro Roni Glock 22 SBR and second is Billy using it.
It has a 9mm Lone Wolf Alpha barrel, I can swap the factory .40S&W back in as needed.

Battery Oaks, it's worth the trip.

I thought my wife made the dumplins but it was my mother, so here is the recipe, verbatim from her. Since this is my mother, consider this a disclaimer not to read if you are easily offended, confused, ethnic, unrepentantly northern, or have blood glucose issues. I'm sure all of these "measurements" are purely estimates and eyeballs, so don't feel constrained by anything the AMA might warn you against.

2 cans Great Value Big Butter Crescent rolls (that is the Wal Mart brand)
12 oz Mtn Dew
1 & 1/2 cups of sugar
Cinnamon/apple pie spice to taste
1 stick of butter (I asked if it was salted butter and she laughed "yes, unless you're quair or something""
4-5 large Granny Smith apples which have to be from the Carolinas, apparently because those apples from Spanish or near Spanish (Florida?) speaking countries are flavorless trash. More commentary came with that, but it probably isn't needed here.

Mix the sugar, melted butter, and spice in a bowl, it'll be grainy.
Whop the crescent rolls
Roll up about a quarter to a half of each apple (sliced thin) in each crescent roll, peench it shut and put the seam down in:

a 9"x13" (you know, from "here to there" with your hands) GREASED pan until you've filled the pan.

Put a handful of the grainy mix over each dumplin, then pour the Mountain Dew over the whole thing.

The oven should have been preheated to 350 before all of this
bake 40-45 minutes.

Doooood, those apple dumplings are the shnizzzle. My wife has requested the recipe, if your family is willing to give it up.

Many thanks. I've shared the recipe as best I can.

That’s the best commentary on a recipe lol

I like picking apples at Sky Top in flat rock. Take my son up there every fall. We get lots of Granny Smith apples for cooking with

I sincerely appreciate each and every one that put forth efforts to make this meet and greet a tremendous success. We were invited to an awesome location and facilities and the event was hosted by one of the finest Southern couples you'll ever meet. All participants followed the required safety guidelines and that always makes an event like this a great and memorable experience. The Battery Oaks compound owners have gone to great lengths to push the buttons on mandatory safety, provide strategic training venues, and still find the time for making each and every attendee feel WELCOME.

It was simply amazing to see the chemistry that was being struck by @BatteryOaksBilly , his wife Ronnie Sue, their extended family members, local friends who participated by cooking, greeting people, and sharing good times with all of us. So many people brought a wide range of food and most of it was home cooked. This was my first time enjoying ham bog and ol' Randall won quite a few hearts with his cast iron pot cooking skills with this Southern delicacy.

It was also impressive to have so many of the Carolina Firearms Forum members attend that drove long distances and those who were able to bring their wives to our 1st Annual Southeastern Meet and Greet at the Battery Oaks compound this year. I am very fortunate to have met quite a few of you for the first time and thank you for making that possible.

I'm one lucky person to be a small part of the Carolina Firearms Forum. That fact was proven to me once again this very weekend.

What happens when dad cuts up the fallen tree and liberates himself...

convinces his daughter to keep him company...

prepays a way overpriced hotel room...

drives 4 hours to Conway...

buys a bunch of tickets to the drawing?

SHE wins a package of cool coffee with the ticket she got just by showing up.

Isn't it cool she doesn't drink coffee? :D

I love Granny Smiths, I can eat 'em right off the tree. The NC mountains grow the best apples in the world; the Honey Crisps from up there are, bar none, the best there is.

She needs to sign up on here now. We're glad you both made the effort to come. That was a big tree!

I had to listen to my daughter raving about the two rice dishes all the way back to High Point. Anybody wanna give up the recipes?

Chicken Bog and Ham Bog. Recipes vary from cook to cook.

Does anybody remember the scope that was on the 50 cal. semi auto rifle.. It had the dope built into the head unit. I think that you put the bullet ballistics in and it would make the adjustments. Might be something that Sig is claiming.
I know that both scopes were big dollars but I had a harder time seeing through them. Might be the sight height or eye relief. Just could not get a clean picture. Maybe my eye glassis.. The computer on has me thinking about how I will not be able to spend that much money on that scope but WANT ONE.

Also, not saying anything but if you get back to the 300 yard range and you have a range finder, please shoot the distance. It looked a little bit farther than the 300 yard steel at my range. Also, the steel looked bigger than our 20 and 24 inch plates we shot.

Or maybe in a couple of week I can find some time to get back there but doudt it with Open Enrollment happening until the end of the year.

Dang I am sick that I couldn’t make it this weekend, my wife just told me this afternoon that she hopes that there is another event like this soon because she was looking forward to shooting out past 100 yards and she said that she finds herself wanting to shoot the AR more and more, I think I may have created a monster lmao
