So I helped my son assemble an AR pistol last year. 8.5” PSA upper, poverty pony lower...nothing fancy but it’s never given us any trouble. The other day he was shooting, cycling fine then suddenly failure to feed, the round was partially out of the magazine but the bolt was on top of it if you can visualize. We clear the round, try again, same thing. We fiddle with it a while, different mags etc and I decide to swap the BCG from my rifle. With the new BCG his pistol functions perfectly.

We wrap up and clean the gun, I examine the BCG and can see nothing out of the ordinary. I clean and lube it and we try again today. Same issue, swap BCG and functions fine.

The BCG from his pistol is a Smith and Wesson, best I can tell there maybe a gas issue that’s keeping it from completely cycling. The gas rings seem ok. Anyone ran into an issue like this?

Turns out the front screw on the gas key is broke.

I've seen two different BCG's from M&P sports that had sheared off gas keys screws.
