I'm in need of a BCG for my PSA rifle. Is the Toolcraft still the best for the $? Just need a good solid full auto style BCG. Have had bad luck with PSA.... lol thanks

PSA has their "blemished", premium, complete FA BCG's on sale right now for $69.99 shipped. It even has their logo on it.

I stick with Spikes, BCM and DD. Those 3 have always been good to go from the manufacturer ... fit & finish and properly staked. My favorite BCG and what’s in my HD carbine has been the Spikes NiB ... it’s a little pricey (Primary Arms has it on sale for $179.99) but it’s slick so cleaning is way easier and doesn’t require running as wet as a magnesium phosphate one.

What kind of issues have you had with the PSAs? Curious because I have a upper I got on sale being delivered soon for a pistol build. This will be my first experience with PSA. Thanks.

Light primer strikes. Been a issue with 3 different PSA BCG for me. The first 2 it was short firing pins ( .003 shorter than standard m16 length). Replaced the firing pin and no issues.

But this one is strange. Changed the firing pin but still issues. Checked head space and it's good. And yes my trigger springs are right ;)

Put 150 rounds through it no issues but at a class kept getting light primer strikes. Will be replacing the BCG as it's the only thing I can think of.

Good to know, thanks. I’ll probably put a new BCG at the top of the list of things to upgrade.

Spikes and BCM use A.O. Precision in Fla for their BCG's. DD makes there own BCG's in house.

Light primer strikes? I’d look at the trigger before replacing the BCG, I have a PSA premium BCG with 12-14k rounds through it with zero BCG related issues, I did replace the extractor spring and doughnut prior to having any issues as preventative maintenance.

With that said I installed a POF trigger and started having light primer strikes with wolf & Tula ammo, put the factory trigger back in and put 500 rounds of steel case through the gun with zero issues, put the POF back in and it was no bueno with steel case, never had an issue with any brass case, fast forward a couple of years and I got a CMC for my wife’s build and she liked the POF better and since I’ll only ever run brass through that gun she hasn’t had any issues, the CMC shoots wolf & Tula just fine.

But if you want advice, Wahoo said it best many years ago “Just buy a BCM and be done with it”, my three BCM BCGs in other ARs have been perfect, I have a friend that gets them at wholesale so I’m not spending $160-$180 on mine, if I had to pay full retail for a general use gun I’d get a toolcraft.

I only shoot steel in my PSA carbine and I intend to shoot it until it starts keyholeing regularly.

Update. I double checked the trigger springs they are good. I checked the head space as well just because. I could not find anything wrong with the BCG.

I ordered a AIM surplus titanium nitride BCG. I have one of their lightweight BCG and it has been awesome so I took a chance. I have put 150 rounds through the new BCG with no issues. I will be putting some more rounds through her on Friday.

So far so good :)

Are you using steel cased ammo? It’s hit or miss with my JP yellow springs, so I use only brass cased ammo. I’ve got PSA BCG’s with lots of rounds through them without problems.
