I know that Bear Creek had quality issues several years ago, does anyone have any experience with what they're putting out now?
I'm seeing some build kits in the low $200 dollar range with their components.

Still Moore's Machine Company under a different name. I've got a couple of their lowers and had no issues. notnsure about their barrels and other parts now but I've seen barrels made by them that the rifling didn't go all the way through. Check Andersons prices. May cost a little more, but their quality control is way better

Bought one of their rifles back when they were Moores Machine. Wouldn't run. Out of spec lower. I don't know about their parts currently but I would never buy another rifle of theirs, their reputation is such that it would be extremely hard to sell. Any company that would sell crap like that for years does not have the integrity to ensure that they are not dong it again, even if they did get their crap working right for now. Maybe if they switched ownership..

Read on another forum where 2 different people bought 6.8 barrels from Bear Creek, and couldn't get them to group with factory ammo or handloads(3"-4"groups). Primary Arms sends me several emails a week featuring Bear Creek barrels, but I'm not interested at all.

As cheap as Ballistic Advantage barrels are right now, and Aero uppers and lowers, no way I'd buy subpar shit like Bear Creek. Hell, Primary Arms had CMMG lower parts kits minus the trigger for $25 each. You can build a wicked nice gun for $500 if you don't go crazy on the rail.

My inbox is bombarded with killer deals everyday. Recently, PSA offered separate 308 uppers and lowers for a combined price of $479. I'm getting weaker.....

Quality parts are now cheap and getting cheaper. No need to buy low quality stuff, even for a truck gun build. I'm squirreling away every part I can afford right now, because sooner or later something stupid is gonna happen and the good deals will disappear.

I'm probably gonna hold off for now but being able to build a complete AR15 for less than $300 is very tempting.
It's not a need, just a want. :)

But why complete a turd build when you could have a rock solid piece for around $200 more?
