Beautiful Day in Lierna

Gorgeous day in Lago de Como, Lierna Italy! Spent the last few days hiking, exploring and meandering through the area here.

Some serious history in this small lake town, dating as far back back as the Roman era.

Nice way to spend the “summer” here too, temp wise.

Got to check out an old WW1 era Italian fort today: Forte Montecchio. Neat piece of history dating back to 1912. Never used in WW1, but this fort was captured by partisans in WW2 and supposedly lobbed some arty rounds as Mussolini tried to flee the country in 1943.

A battery of 4x 150mm guns. One of them was still in operating (but not firing) condition.

Wrapping up the last day here… off to Rome tomorrow for a couple days before heading home. Ciao!
