Everybody has some kind of hobby. One of my wife's hobbies is beaver related stuff.

Beaver earrings, fuzzy stuffed beaver toys, beaver patches, whatever.

A while back she sent me a link about Eau de Musc whiskey, made by Tamworth Distilling, located in Tamworth NH.

Whiskey made using beaver musk...I kid you not!

I couldn't find a price or local area which carried it. So I called Tamworth, fully intending to drive my happy keister all the way up there to get some if I had to (I once made a round trip to a gift shop in Kittery ME right after I retired to get something my wife found before we left there, but I wasn't able to get back to the store before we left).

Anyway, they have plenty on hand at about $60 a bottle...but they don't ship. I'm mentally calculating the driving time when the lady tells me they're sending a small shipment to Warehouse Wine & Spirit, located in NY, and they DO ship.

A phone call later and WW&S tells me they're taking pre-orders...$65 a bottle, plus S&H. That's a LOT less than the gas and time I was going to burn on this.

So I pre-ordered some. I wanted three bottles (one for my wife, one for my collection, and one to actually open and try), but they top out at 2 bottles max.

Ah, well. 2 bottles it is! A pretty penny, but hey...we buy our wives the things that make them happy, right?

Anyway, the shipment showed up at the house today by FEDEX and my wife signed for it. Of course, she wanted to know what it was when I told her to expect a package which had to be signed for..."I can't tell you! But you can probably guess when you see where it's from anyway!"

It just occurred to me that the package is from WW&S...not Tamworth Distilling! So she may not actually know yet!

:):)

Oh, and by the way...this is a limited run. And the bottles? 200 ml...not 750 ml.

At $60 a bottle from Tamworth, that works out to $225 for a fifth, if they had it in that size.

*alas* I don't expect either of us to open our respective bottles...so I'll never know what it tastes like unless I buy another.

I'm seriously considering buying a third bottle just so we can try it.

I have a dream that one of these days I'll get around to building that liquor cabinet I've always wanted and stock it with unique unopened bottles, some of which I've picked up around the world while in the Navy.

Naturally, I'll have standard fair that would be "drinkable", but the others I've collected I want to remain unopened.

Color me weird.
