On April 28th my dads American Legion post is hosting a benefit motorcycle ride. The post is 305 in Snow Camp, NC. It will be a poker run, with all proceeds going to renovation of their building. The cost is $20, with passengers being an additional $5. Address for the post is 7678 Snow Camp Rd. Snow Camp, NC 27349. Registration starts at 9:30 am and kick stands up at 10:30 am. Planned return time is around 1:30 pm, with a hot dog and bbq lunch being served after the ride. I believe they are also going to have a bluegrass band there playing. I will be attending the ride and would like to extend an invitation to any members of the forum that would like to join. Ride will take place rain or shine.

Thanks for the invite.
Can't make it though.
Granddaughters #1 birthday bash!!!
Good luck and ride safe:D

Awesome of you guys to do this. Simply awesome.

Well I happen to live in the teeming metropolis of Snow Camp, and just happen to have purchased a motorcycle 2 months ago. If a KLR 650 dual sport won't look too out of place I'd love to ride along. Unfortunately I'll be QAing software that morning beginning at 7am but I just might be done in time. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I was at cox's Harley Davidson for a benefit ride last weekend (I was the handsome guy in the firetruck) and there were all kinds of bikes there. Who doesn't love dual sports?

Any kind of bike is welcome. I know there will be at least one can am spider in the ride. Hope you can make it.

Thanks Mighty and Dman. For the uninitiated, what is a poker run? Any ideas on the route for this 3hr ride?

If I don't make the ride I might stop by for the band and BBQ and make a donation.

Edit: So I googled poker run. Sounds like fun.

I’m not 100% certain of the route, my dad has all that planned out. Last I heard we’re making a stop somewhere in swepsonville and at the battle ground right outside of alamance, not sure of any other stops or routes.

My son is moving today in Garner and all his help fell through so after work I'll be heading over there. Have a great time and I hope to catch the next one.

How'd it go? The burn kicked my butt. I'm drinking a few beers and heading to bed.

We had a total of 7 bikes in the ride, I don’t think it’s to bad for the first year doing it. Crazy Carl made the ride and Flashpoint made it in time for lunch. Really enjoyed talking and getting to know them today. With raffle ticket sales and money from the ride we ended up raising $772 to go towards a new roof on the building. I had a good time and already looking forward to next year.

I have a Goldwing, which is far more appropriate on poker runs, but I love to show up on my Supermoto bike instead.
We call ourselves 0% er's because no-one likes us.
Not really though. The Harley guys always have lots of questions when they see it. It reminds them of the bikes they grew up on, but with an ability to cut heads in the twisty's and still escape through the woods. They like the idea because we obviously have one thing in common; Die Yuppie Scum.

I didn't make the ride. Road my KLR to N. Raleigh to help my son and he had like 5 20/30 something male friends show up so after the truck was loaded I cut loose to let them do the unloading.

I did however drop by there at 2:00 and hung out with some of the vets and waited for the riders to get back. Bought some of their raffle tickets and ate some BBQ, it was a good time.
