Is there a home fix for this? I don't have any fancy tools. I also don't want to fit/buy new parts unless I have to on this gun.

How much would a gunsmith charge?

It's a S&W Model 66 BTW.
 
I’ll bet you can find one that’s plug and play without spending much at all.
 
Not sure if it's the same one, but here is the one I got for my 686. Not worth the time or effort to go a Smith in my opinion.

All I used was a thick piece of leather and good pliers. Part came from Numrich.
