I wasn't really planning a review, but I think it would be a disservice to not review the 92X RDO. I have never been this impressed for a factory gun configuration and think they represent a killer deal, especially if you are looking for or like the 92 platform.

Let me be the first to say, I absolutely love the Beretta 92. I've owned a lot of MD/Italy-made variants over the years and nearly all malfunctions were attributed to Russian berdan primers and aftermarket magazines. Every single one was accurate and a few had that absolute amazing accuracy that you should never trade away. I've always ran them wet with heavy oil, but have been using grease exclusively for AL frame pistols for a long time now. Any new 92 gets a D-spring, metal trigger, and Wolff TCU. Used gets the same, but I always replace the recoil spring, slide stop spring, and trigger bar spring (and every 5K afterwards). So when I get a new 92, I have some minor expectations of a few new parts. When it came to the 92X RDO, I was flabbergasted that it didn't need ANYTHING.

I got mine off the forum used because the price was good. I was actually pretty hesitant at first. I'm not really a fan of the curved trigger guard and it is a Tennessee model. The TN models have had QC issues for quite some time, and I find it easier to just buy Italian or Maryland made. It's a Centurion and while I love the full-size frame & compact slide in most pistols, I kind of prefer the full-size 92. This particular 92 is a G model, which deletes the safety position for decock-only. I prefer F models, but the 92x can be converted to either. I figured why not and brought my Monopoly money for some fine Italian steel.

So why was I so impressed that I decided to review it? It's so chock-full of updates that I really am impressed with the evolution from the 92FS. Such as:
-The frame is a railed Vertec with a curved trigger guard. The Vertec removes the arch in the grip to give a more 1911ish grip. If you don't like it, it comes with a set of wrap-around grips that add the standard 92 grip profile. I kind of prefer the standard 92 profile because the Vertec generally moves my front sight too far left on the draw. I'm working with the Vertec before I write it off.

-The slide is also Vertec style, so the front sight is dovetailed unlike milled on the 92FS. It is equipped with a blacked-out rear sight and a red front sight dot. This also has Beretta's RDO optic system. I can't really give a review of it because I don't have plans to add an RDS. It is said that it's a fairly high mount, and the most popular option seems to be a Reddit-member that makes the lowest RDS plate. That said, you can add an optic.

-The FCG is the heat. The trigger is metal, D-spring comes standard, and it has the 92 Xtreme-S short reset trigger bar. Without a trigger gauge, I would estimate an 8.5-9lb DA and 3.5-4lb SA. The Xtreme trigger bar makes it have an very smooth and short reset at roughly 1/4". Absolutely a great factory trigger and I feel like most upgrades would not offer much for the investment. It does have the standard 92 hammer and trigger return spring. I was kind of surprised Beretta doesn't offer an Elite II hammer out the box, but a minor complaint.

-The barrel is chrome-lined, with recessed target crown, front slide serrations, checkering on front/back of grip (covered if using 92 grip), extended magazine release, and OEM 18-round magazines.

First range trip was with 150 rounds. Accuracy was good, but the 150 rounds of 124-gr Blazer Brass plated bullets were having jacket separation. I really do not like Blazer brass, and doubt I'll buy anymore after I finish this lot off. Second was 150 rounds of PPU 115-gr which had no jacket separation and grouped very nicely. The only issue I could find is OEM 17 round magazines are very tight in the 92X magazine well when fully loaded. No issues with 10/15/18 round OEM magazines. There really isn't much else to say except it is a nice shooting pistol and I think it offers such an outstanding value for what you get. It's priced under the M9A4 and Performance series, but not much more than a stock 92FS.

Thanks for reading my blog, hit that like & subscribe, and say hi to your Momma and all them.

Do you know if this fits standard 92 holsters?
I had a 92a1 with a rail that I let slip through my clutches a few years ago - I miss it. I shot it really well. I have a nice Safariland holster that I kept.

The only 92 holster that will hold it is the Bianchi M12 and it was a tight fit.

Cool gun. Great review.
I have always wanted a Beretta. Since I first saw them as a kid centuries ago. They were so exotic back then. Not so much anymore but I still think it is one of the most beautiful firearms ever made. When the first Vertec stainless came out I was knocked out. Now I would choose the 92X defensive most likely. Soooooo sexy.

But ultimately I haven't sprung for one as I do love my CZ's and they cover the same ground. But someday I'd like to snag one for some range abuse.

I have the 92XI, and I have a red dot on it. I don't think it is mounted too high. Thanks for the review on this model since my friend is looking at one. I will pass it along.
