I am thinking of getting a PCC, I am not one for building my one guns, since I prefer them to function. Not really interested in an AR PCC. So what are the pros and cons of a CZ Scorpion Carbine and a Beretta Storm?

My scorpion is litterally my favorite gun right now! Fun to shoot, ergonomics are good, folds up small, and accurate like a freaking laser. Lots of growing aftermarket support too.

Cz scorpion not even a question

Is that the pistol or the carbine? Looking for USPSA use.

I haven't gotten to shoot a Scorpion but I love my Beretta. Accurate and reliable, I own anything out to 100 yds.

If you like their pistols (I don't) you have the added convenience of interchangeable magazines.

It's also shorter OAL than MY SBR M-2 was.

I have no experience with either. But as my screen name indicates I have a bias. I have never had a CZ FTF/FTE. Or an issue of any kind. They aren't always milled and finished like a fine 1911 in a custom shop, but they go bang. Reliably. There is value in that.

I owned a Beretta CX4 when they first came out, but eventually sold it. The Beretta was quite comfortable to shoot and was a very accurate. For me, the primary issues were:

1. the terrible out-of-the-box trigger and
2. being a lefty, my grip on the gun would often engage the bolt stop prematurely.

At the time, there were aftermarket parts available for the trigger, but I never invested in them. I'm not sure if the construction has changed over the years since then though. I did find it a bummer that you had to buy all the rails as an accessory kit, which should have come with the gun from the start.

In the end, the deciding factor to sell the carbine was that my wife wanted something a little more in common with her M4. So I replaced the gun with a Rock River LAR9

If you want a PCC for USPSA then definately a CZ EVO over a Beretta Storm. The CZ has far more aftermarket trigger options, greater magazine capacity, and is faster to reload.

Today I was at Denver Defense shooting and my friend brought his Beretta CX4. I shot a couple magazines out of it and was really impressed. I was in a 25 yard lane so I was limited to seeing it’s ability out to greater distances. He paid sub $600.00 and compared to a PSA it is much better quality. The trigger is OK but would prefer not so much take up. I’d buy it.

I’ve shot the CZ Scorpion carbine once. Stock folding and adjustment is outstanding. Trigger is outstanding. Much better than the Beretta. Handguard is nice. Sights better than the Beretta. Mag release is the best in the gun industry. I saw the breakdown for cleaning on a video. It’s unreal easy. I’d buy either but given my choice the CZ is the holy grail of 9mm carbines. Add a HB Industries charging handle adapter and a red dot and this is a perfect home defense/truck gun.

CZ Scorpion Evo trigger is IMHO clunky and heavy. Springs from HBI can change that. The grip angle sucks but $25 -$45 later and that is fixed. The CZ is awesome with the CZ factory stock and a tailhook. As long as the ATF plays nice there is no need to SBR it and you have a amazing PCC without a tax stamp.

That said you will pay $900-$999 for the Evo with a tailhook. You will then pay another $300 to get it right. Changing out safety selectors, mag release, charging handle and grip. Still all said an done for $1200-$1300 you will have one hell of a gun. IMHO.

If you want to shoot one let me know. I can make that happen.

I shot a CX4 probably 10yr ago. I thought it was cool, really just the idea of a PCC, but can't say is ever buy one.

The CZ Scorpion on the other hand, I love it! Granted, I have the pistol which I SBR'ed but I would definitely recommend the carbine as well. It's a terrible pistol but a great carbine/SBR. One of my favorites for sure.
The price is competitive, mags are cheap, and mods are pretty plentiful.

Although I only own one CZ product, they will be on the absolute top of my list in future gun purchases. I’ve never been a Beretta fan but it’s been based on their chunky metal pistols that seem to be all the same. Today I shot the guy who had the CX4 newest pistol. It was the Beretta APX and it shot way better than any Beretta I have fired.

Realistically, having shot both, the CZ is what you want.
That being said, as a result of personal preference, I sold my Scorpion and kept my CX4.

Trigger: They both suck out of the box. The CX4's sucks more. You can get an aftermarket for it that makes it pretty darn good, but it's not cheap.

Ergos: The CZ is altogether more "rifle like" than the CX4's thumbhole stock. The CX4 feels smaller and more handy if we're comparing it to the Scorpion rifle.

Accuracy: About the same really.

Mags: CX4 wins here in my opinion. Cheap metal magazines over the CZ's plastic ones. Likely lots of surplus ones in the near future as the military phases out the 92. The CZ are higher capacity standard though.

Sights: The CZ wins. The CX4 has horrendous sights. They're usable, but it really shines with an optic. The Scorpion sights aren't bad at all.

Price: CX4 will come in cheaper, but putting in a new trigger kit bought and installed at almost $200 will make them about the same.

Reliability: I didn't run the Scorpion hard when I had it, and only used brass cased stuff, but I had no problems with it. My CX4 is high round count and still eats aluminum and steel cased junk when I'm too cheap to feed it brass. I think they're both fairly reliable.

SUPER TACTICAL OPERATOR RATING: The CZ looks cool and will attract women. When I had mine I always made sure to wear my wedding ring at the range. Even some dudes were offering to buy me a drink.
It also has lots of rails from the factory for mounting lasers, flashlights, flashing lasers, AFG's, VFG's, and PEQ's. It also has a factory threaded barrel.

Man if there is one word I would not use to describe Beretta products it would be clunky.... I think most of their stuff is elegant.

I would buy a CX4 Beretta for a combo gun in a heartbeat. I don’t know which pistol magazines fit the gun other than the storm pistol mags. As a SHTF combo this would be excellent for common mags and versatility. The CZ will require separate mags.
