Don't know your Grandsons size but the A300 in synthetic comes with stock shims that range length (LOP) from 13 to 14.5 inches. You also get a modifiable shim system with drop and cast spacers and 3 Mobile Chokes.
As a busy shotgun instructor I am asked quite often for a recommendation for a first shotgun under $1000. The answer is usually the A300. The quality and durability of this gun is the same as the Beretta A400 Excel Pro that sells for $2000 that I use as a backup gun for Clays. The A300 is easy to clean compared to the 391. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with this choice.
I instruct Skeet and 5 stand (24 machines) at DCWC in Morrisville and Clays at most of the local Clay Ranges, mostly Deep River for quartering birds and Kids Place for really hard technical stuff. I also like Dewitts and Rose Hill.I'm curious where you instruct? Which games?

I am NSSA certified and have a AAA pin meaning I was AAA at one point across all gauges at the same time. I shot AA in Clays until 2018 when my squad "dragged" me into USPSA when I found out running was not my strong suit. If you have any questions just ask and I will try to help.
Thanks for your reply Mike. I’m not looking for lessons, just trying to figure out credentials.
