The car is white white and kinda tired so I'm not too worried about a perfect color match. The replacement door handle ships black plastic. I just want something that cures good and hard and won't get soft in the sun since it's the driver exterior door handle.

Thanks in advance.

Krylon makes a tough coat that works pretty well. And putting a clear coat over the paint works really well (clear coats are much harder) so long as the paint is fairly hard.

The problem that most people have is they rush (myself included) and put too thick of a coat or coats on. When you do that the paint will never harden.

The harder you need it to be, the more coats it should take you to spray the handles because you're laying thin coats.

For door handles I would recommend 6-7 coats for the finished look. Let it cure for a few days and then clear coat.

^^^What he said! I have to reprint my old Jeep door handles on occasion. Thin even coats and it hardens quite well. Gob it on in one coat and it'll never cure.

You can get color match paint in spray at Napa. Or get a touch up pen and dump the contents in to one of the air sprays they sell at Lowes.

Another option, assuming you can be without the car for a day or two. Check your local body shops. Ask if you drop them off would they spray them the next time they have white paint in the sprayer. Even set an appt for them to call you when they have one.

I've had mine sprayed when other work was being done on my truck. I pulled the handles off, and they sprayed them at no charge.

My trailer is powder coated and had a few "transport" nicks/scratches. I used Rust-Oleum appliance Epoxy Black ( Ultra-Hard Enamel ). Just use some fine sand paper, clean, mask and spray. Note: It takes a LLOONNGG time to cure so refrain from touching.

Final product is real smooth and hard, ah, durable. ;)

Have you thought about using a white rubber tool coating?

https://liquidrubber.ca/products/toughdip

Forgot about that stuff. It works really well too. I haven't used it myself but I have a few friends that have coated rims, and even sprayed their entire trucks with it for off roading.

It looks really good and lasts a long time. When it finally starts to peel you just grab and edge and peel it all off and recoat.

I've seen them spray a truck, use it all weekend, come back and peel it all off again.

I'm going to sell this vehicle as soon as I finish sprucing it up so I want to keep it short and sweet. Thanks for the recommendations guys.

I've used Rust-Oleum Enamel on a previous motorcycle to paint trim. It held up extremely well. Sprayed very nicely and really easy prep work. Like others said, multiple, light, even coats are the key. I think they have a clear enamel to give it a super protective finish, but its really not necessary.

20170527_141728-01.jpeg Krylon Fusion or Krylon Dual Bond are great paint and bond to plastic very well. All the trim under my bumper and my running boards are sprayed with it and have held up fantastic.

Just noticed your sig line. Love it!

If you first spray it with adhesion premoter it works pretty good when spraying plastics as well to keep it from flaking later. I painted a bunch of plastic pieces for work by spraying it and then just paint from lowes and it holds up well. Like others stated trick is just do not get in a hurry with the coats.

Plasti-Dip comes in a rattle can and is sold at Home Depot. Pretty sure white is one of the stock colors.

The only rattle can paint I know of that's designed to adhere to plastic is the Krylon. I would go with that.
