Just looking for a reputable online source. What have you used? Was going to check Carolina readiness but they will be closed when we go through. They are everywhere online but prefer to not guess on a good site. Thanks for the info. Looking at getting the big berkey if it matters.

Looked at them the other day when @georgel posted about the Charlotte water main break. The company direct seemed to be the best form my quick search..

I think we went direct with the company. I'll check with the wife tomorrow. She ordered it.

For some reason my wife was having a hard time finding the direct site. Maybe because there are so many other dealers coming up. Looks like I found it though since they have a scratch and dent section. And I'm not keen on going through Amazon for big ticket stuff unless the company is an Amazon seller.

Going to order one soon. Our fridge does a good job with filtration. The filters get good reviews and remove a lot of stuff. But looking to get something for coffee/tea/cooking/ and that's quicker filling up my bottles to take to work. And something that doubles to filter non potable water without power is a big plus.

I got mine straight from Berkey almost 2 years ago. Bought a scratch and dent, and they gave me a non blem one for the same price.

I know you asked specifically about the Berkey.

I had a bad experience with my Big Berkey. It became contaminated with something that was making me sick and took about a year to determine it was the Berkey. I still have the Big Berkey, but don't use it. I bought this Zero and prefer it for a couple of reasons - 1) glass tank, 2) dishwasher safe, 3) comes with electronic water tester to indicate filter change need, 4) inexpensive disposable filters.

I am not saying the Berkey isn't a fine water filter, but in my experience over 10+ years, I like the Zero better.

There must be 8 sites with Berkey in the name. Sheesh. Ordered a scratch and dent with some extras.

Found out I have kidney stones and so does my wife. Maybe filtering more of our hard water will help.

i've read lemonade can help kidney stones
Maybe so. With my last one I tried the home remedy of apple cider vinegar. It wasnā€™t pleasant going down. It was 10x as bad coming back up. šŸ¤¢šŸ¤®šŸ˜³

Anything with citric acid helps. Anything that raises alkalinity helps. The citric acid lessens the uric acid that causes some stones. The higher PH counteracts the uric acid too. The Berkey removes some of the things that make water more acidic. So it's supposed to raise the PH of the water. I need to order some test strips to see. Also looking at adding mineral stones to the bottom of the filter. But I'll use it without first to see how that works. And our tap water is rather hard so that probably does not help things either.

I drink mostly water and coffee right now. So I think it was either a change in vitamins (switched to a vitamin pack with more herbal stuff), salads heavy in kale and spinach, or the water. Or all of the above.
