I love my kimber pro carry II 9mm because of its weight but it lacks in capacity. So here's what I'm looking for.
Requirements - no particular order

1 - Weight around 25 ounces with no mags
2 - Polymer design to reduce weight
3 - High capacity of at least 15 rounds or more.
4 - 18 degree grip angle similar to 1911 design.
5 - Optional interchangeable back straps
6 - Excellent sights - don't have to be night sights
7 - Option for red dot installation
8 - Excellent trigger with pull under 5 pounds. Will not mind installation of a trigger kit if necessary.
9 - Must have at least 2 safeties

Been shooting a 9mm loaded SA but weight getting to be an issue relating to accuracy. Arthritic hands can't hold a 43 ounce gun long enough for accurate shots. My Kimber is very accurate but lacks in capacity and sight options. I load my own rounds so I have a reliable and comfortable formula.

I shoot mainly paper and regularly get groups of 1.5 inches at 7 yards with the Kimber free standing.

Please give me any suggestions pertaining to guns you have shot and not just word of mouth. I'm looking for real world experience.

Remember weight and capacity are very critical in this decision.

Thanks in advance for all your suggestions. If you have any questions please PM me.

A 5" PPQ meets most of your reasons out of the box (excellent trigger, very accurate, lightweight, polymer, great grip, 15 and 17 rnd mags avail, ergos are really good). The sights are polymer, but the rear is adjustable for windage. Meprolight makes a great tritium for it.
The slide would have to milled to accept a red dot.
The wife and I both own 4" PPQ's. They are a great pistols. I have shot a friends 5" and its really nice. I'm gonna be getting one soon. This is a high 'bang for the buck' pistol.

The CZ P09 will meet all your requirements I believe. I have 2 P09's so this is all first hand info. Accuracy isn't a problem, I've shot plenty of sub 1 inch 25 yard groups with mine, I've even shot a 4 1/2 inch 100 yard group and could possibly improve on that if I put more effort into it.

I have a Burris FF3 mounted on a springer precision dovetail mount so no real need to get the slide milled unless you just want to.

A Cajun gun works competition hammer and a 13lb hammer spring will give you a very good, crisp trigger.

It comes with a decocker and a manual safety so you can decide on your preferred manner of use.

The factory sights are not my favorite but I planned on a red dot before I bought it so I didn't care about that. Dawson precision makes an excellent set of aftermarket sights though.

It comes with 3 back straps, 19 round mags, not sure on the exact weight but ought to be close to your goal weight.

P 09's are super soft shooting guns too. First time I ever shot one I was shooting it back to back against my XDM, using some of my light loaded 147 gr loads. First round I put through the P 09 I thought was a squib it was so soft.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Never thought of a CZ. I had several CZ75B's but never considered them because of weight. I'll have to look at the P09. Thanks

P09 is what popped into my head too.

Canik TP9sFX actually ticks every box of list. I have no direct experience but you can search reviews from those that have.

This is the one I would take a very close look at.

I apologize as I have no personal experience with either! But gets you at least pointed at two you may not have been aware of.

I've always liked my CZ75B so I'll check out the P09. Thanks

...9 - Must have at least 2 safeties...[/QUOTE said:
I'm ignorant (that's just a general statement and not related to this post).

What do you mean by two safeties? The only gun I can think of is a 1911 with the thumb and grip safety...or are you talking about internal things like drop safety?

does that mean the glock has 3 safeties?

Sorry it put my post in the quote which is a PITA!

To summarize my favorite gun is my kimber pro carry 9mm. Weight is 25 ounces and is a great carry gun. For target practice past 7 yards I would like a longer sight radius and more capacity if possible. Just might settle for a kimber target if it has an alloy frame to keep weight down. I now have a SA loaded 9mm that weighs 43 ounces and I don't shoot particularly well with it because of arthritis so reducing the weight would be very helpful.

Walther Q5 Match, checks all your boxes but the safeties.
SA XDM OSP checks everything.

I now realize by "two safeties" you meant exterior ones.
That cuts out my suggestions and about 95% of the poly frame options.

Most striker fires guns don't have a thumb or grip safety. And most DA/SA guns are going to either have a decocker or thumb safety.

The more reviews I read on the P09 the more convinced I am that this gun would suit my needs. I will definitely "fondle" this one at the next gun show. We may have a winner here. Many on this forum like the P09 and by the excellent reviews I can see why.

Also CZ custom has a optic ready option. That checks off another possible requirement.

If you have the budget I highly recommend CZ Custom's trigger work too. I have two guns from them and they are a joy to shoot. Or you can order Cajun Gun Works parts and do it yourself if you are inclined and have the skill. Post some pics when you get whatever you decide on. Good luck.

Comes with RED DOT.

I do think that the Ruger SR9 meets all of your requirements. Its affordable, and its a dang good gun. I've got 2, and the SR9C is my EDC, and has been for 3 years now.
