The Biden administration this week signaled that it is eyeing a United Nations small arms treaty that critics claim will lead to an international gun registration plan — including for individual American gun owners.

“…international gun registration plan — including for individual American gun owners.”

Nope….

Like Floyd sang, “your lips move, but I don’t hear what you say.”

He can "aim" to sign all he wants.

But any treaty formed and negotiated by the President has to be advised and consented by 2/3 of the Senate before he can ratify it. Otherwise, it carries all the legal weight of used toilet paper.

AND...though the House isn't in on this, if there are any funds to be allocated in conjunction with this, the House can impede or block any implementation by refusing to vote for funding.

Also, such a treaty would be challenged in the courts at the first available opportunity, because the U.S. Constitution is not subject to legal foreign government interference.

And entering into agreements by Executive Agreements cannot circumvent U.S. laws. Any attempt to do would gleefully be challenged.

Hypothetically how many years would it take to enter over 80 to 100 million gun owners and approximately 400 million firearms? … and yeah I know a crap load of Americans would tell them to pound sand but there would still be a bunch who’d sheeply comply …

How many local cops will hang out at ranges making sure your guns are on the list? I bet more than half of the cops will...

I‘d guess there would have to be some way for them to have “live” access the international database reliably which would be something pretty complicated and a PITA to maintain and run the numbers. Think about just human error on the initial entries alone from building the database … talking about a nightmare.

Think of it akin to a DUI checkpoint.

I seem to remember Obama squeaking around about this during his reign of terror.

Good luck with that, Joey

Fairfax, Va. – Today, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty on behalf of the Obama administration.

so yeah, it was not given senate 2/3 approval.

Yeah, they are just trying to rattle our cages again. Ignore this kind of BS and live a happier life.

Those LEO’s would need a live connection to a monster of a searchable database. A database that would take decades to construct … if 1 person makes 10 entries per hour for 40 hours per week would mean roughly 20,000 entries per year. That means it would take 1,000 people 20 years to input the roughly 400,000,000 firearms in the US before any auditing or such was done. Basically the database would not be valid until all entries were made and the viability of it. Then there would be maintaining transfers of sold firearms from old ownership to new ownership on a reliable and timely basis. Without a valid database and a live searchable connection a Court challenge of it being overreach would likely be pretty easy.

As soon as this takes effect, I suggest we all begin selling our guns to each other, back and forth. I’ll trade my entire collection to one of you, in exchange for your entire collection. The following morning, let’s trade back. As long as we both have valid CHPs, I don’t think we will be violating either the letter or the spirit of the law.

Imagine the paperwork the country’s gun owners could create. 🤓

Create a couple trusts, owned by trusts, managed by an LLC that no longer exists, and that you were never connected to (see any state SOS business listing) to trade guns posted on the internet with serial numbers. Submit them from different countries, move lots in and out of NY and CA.

Databases are not killed by activity, they are killed by crappy data quality.

But it doesn’t matter, will never be ratified unless they decide to drop from 2/3rds of the senate to 1 more than half.

The UN treaty has already been impacting shooters in the U.S. The nations that have signed the treaty have destroyed surplus small arms rather than selling them on the open market as in times past. For example South Africa destroyed a huge quantity of Lee Enfields, Vickers MMGs, Bren guns, and handguns rather than selling them due to being a signatory of the U.N. small arms treaty. Other nations have done the same, mostly those that needs international financial support brokered by the U.N.

you'd think with a big swinging one over at the UN and a permanent veto, we could do something about pushing "our" view of self defense against oppressive government... i mean, if anybody know what it's like to watch government slaughter defenseless citizens, it's the UN, right?

Outlaw guns and only the outlaws will have them. The UN is a joke with their foolish resolutions and treaties.

I am an illegal alien so this crap doesn’t apply to me 🤬
