Big Bore Duo

Hey Tombstone....... Nice rifle, and Yeah, I will take the rifle everyday...........the 500 caliber handguns hurt my hands............

Man that’s a long barrel...... should be able to get something out of that with the right powders. My .510 Alaskan is 18 inches..................What loads and bullets are
You working with????

The barrel is 2-4 inches longer than I would like it is 22". Haven't done lots of loading for it yet but have with IMR4198 and 500gr Woodleighs as well as powder puff loads with 5744 and 650gr lead gas checked rounds. Those are fun to shoot.

IMR 4198 is as good as it gets with that cartridge.......... I have played with RL 10X and H-322, but IMR 4198 is better under most circumstances. You can also down load with IMR 4198 very nicely too..........

Looking back at my current data I have not messed with mine since 2012 and the 350 Raptor loads........ Running the 350 Raptor at 2190 fps with 67/IMR 4198...... Just FYI...........

I have a hell of a lot of data with the Ruger #1, but it is not suitable for the Marlin, which needs to be around 45000 PSI. Data from the 50 B&M Alaskan would correlate however, and be safe, because it is .500 caliber. Going up to .510 would reduce pressures some.

Those are both very nice. Thanks for the pics.

My rotator cuff hurts just looking, let alone pulling the trigger.

I also not so long ago started down loading some for the 50 B&M Alaskan........ using a 400 gr Sierra and 40/IMR 4198 for 1300 fps. Fact is, you can load 40/IMR 4198 with just about any bullet from 300-500 gr and it will
be around 1300-1400 fps and all in the same hole at 50 yards........... Fun........ and easy to shoot........... No doubt the 510 can use a lot of the same data as the .500.......... If the bullets are available. That's the problem with .510 caliber, just not that many bullets available for the lever guns............

Have lots of GC lead bullets for the .510 as there definitely aren't tons of choice in copper. Montana Bullets had quite a few choices and I loaded up back when they were in business. Not sure if they still are.

I had CEB make a 350 Raptor in .510, primarily for the 510 Alaskans I have, but this bullet you can also use in that 510 Wells too, seated deep and using a Talon Tip, it is a wicked Bullet, and I suggest strongly you try some if you ever
decide to hunt that rifle for bigger critters, moose/bear and such...........

But otherwise you can get by with the cast. I don't care much for cast bullets, but fine for shooting and playing around, and for deer/pigs and such.............

I have a couple browning 71's sitting in the safe doing nothing. Guess I need to convert one to 50 B&M Alaskan!

Yep, better than them sitting around in the safe..............and damn sight better than 348.............

I would definitely be interested in some of your load data as these guys burn some powder. If you have any 458 Win or 416 Rigby bolt gun load info love to pry that out of tou as well.

Yep, got "loads" (pun intended) of Data in 458 and some as well in 416 Rigby. I have a 416 Rigby on a #1.......
