What's more fun than sleeping in & having a nice cup o' coffee while lounging around in your PJ's?
Why, going outside, of course!
How it started:
With apologies to Billy Idol,
It's a nice day for an ice beveridge! Drinky-poo started freezin' up by the end of the first mile.
Not too many pics this time. I figure by now you all know this trail as well as I do! And anyway, had to take mitten covers off to free up me frozen digits, then the antique fone didn't take to well to the supposedly touch screen-friendly Magpul gloves. But I got a few en route:
Icy forest trail
Found a welcome sunny spot!
My buddy's thermo-bob dangly digital thing (heheh) informed us it had risen to 17F as we neared the Big Butt Summit Trail. By the time we hit the summit, it had warmed up to 20F!
Fortunately, the wind had picked up, so we didn't didn't get overheated.
Felt good, man.
We didn't linger long. The leaves seemed to have disappeared from our nature-weave wind screen.
I think I may have finally one-upped (one-downed?) the old saying: "Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day!"
Coffee & pajamas... coffee & pajamas... what was I thinkin?? ...
Still, the important parts didn't freeze, and the view was incredible, so a win for the day after all!
I'll leave you with the Deep Blue Sky.
