I have a few forged uppers in the safe, along with lowers. About to build a 20” semi precision build that I need by early December. I originally wanted to go with a billet set, but wanted the parts here ASAP and ordering them would possibly take longer.

Is there any real benefit to switching over to billet? I’m sure my accuracy or groups won’t be the same going from a forged to billet. As of now, I was going to have my friend true up the barrel face on one of my forged uppers and run it like that

IMO, the billet can sometimes have nice features that are worth having. For example, on lower: threaded pin holes at rear take down pin spring hole, and at mag catch. Also integrated trigger guards, possibly ambi controls, etc.
Apparently forged is a bit stronger.

My preference now is the Aero M4E1 lower, which has all the cool stuff a billet has mentioned, but is forged. Also very affordable. I think its the best value/performance you can buy right now. Also looks great. And a matching upper is available.

I doubt if your accuracy would improve, but I think you'd like the easier build-up and the handy features.

edit: example here. 159.00 for whole set. can probably be had even cheaper.

I was going to buy that set, but was trying to make this build as cost effective without sacrificing also. I have a few uppers, and some anderson/psa lowers in the safe, so I just decided to do that.

I may upgrade to a billet set soon though, Ive seen some blem sets for around 200 or less.

I have a Seekins sp223 and the irmt3 upper, it's quality
