Billy's Revolvers

What's the secret to the trigger?
One of Billy's old friends and gunsmith/fabricator re-worked everything. It is without a doubt the lightest and smoothest double action ever. It actually feels like parts have been removed. And, this was 30 years ago.

The same guy was sinking sights into 1911 slides way long before anyone else was doing it. I'm lucky enough to have an old Commander that he worked his magic on. The guy doesn't do any more work now, he's 90 years old now.

And it's 100% reliable?

"Started life as a Model 58 in 41 mag of course. I wanted a revolver to be competitive in IPSC. I had it converted to 45acp. A fixed sight, round butt, 45 acp N frame, enclosed ejector rod, with a 6 1/2 pound double action. This gun was the centerpiece of an article by Massad Ayoob written about me and this gun in October 1988....30 years ago. This was in Pre Michelic Days. I had shot 12 rounds all As from 7 yards, from surrender [the old IPSC start], in 5.2 seconds."

I'd say that it's reliable. LOL

Billy and Larry thanks for the effort and great photos. All of these are interesting handguns, but the round butt model 27-2 is stunning. Was that a factory special order, limited production run, or a non-factory custom job? I'd love to have something like that one, but it's just to nice for my collecting tastes.

Top is a perfect pre12. Any marks you see are shadows. The best one I have ever seen, 5 screw made in 1953. With it is a 3 inch, round butt, K22.
Next is a doosey. Started life as a Model 58 in 41 mag of course. I wanted a revolver to be competitive in IPSC. I had it converted to 45acp. A fixed sight, round butt, 45 acp N frame, enclosed ejector rod, with a 6 1/2 pound double action. I had shot 12 rounds all As from 7 yards, from surrender [the old IPSC start], in 5.2 seconds. One of our folks was reading this article recently and pointed out that The Jerry could do this in about 3 seconds. I replied...He can't make false teeth...I can come closer to his job than he can mine!
And then there are those Ivory stocked Bottom Feeders, like anybody cares.....

You know I certainly do!

I had the pleasure of shooting that Baer longslide and what a joy it was!

Ya'll have all heard of Bull Sheiiite? That is Bear Sheiiiite, he can buy anything he wants. He just hasn't handled this long enough yet. I'll get in those pockets yet!!!

Itā€™s easy to see where the lionā€™s share of the worldā€™s supply of Tyler T-grips currently lives too!
Very nice collection Sir!

Got to see and fondle several of these over the weekend when I visited Battery Oaks. Very nice.
