Hi friends! Today is my birthday, and my wife got me an awesome present...

For the last 6 months, or so, I have taken to carrying a fixed blade knife on my belt. I own three now, and I switch back and forth between a Lon Humphrey Reaver, Lon Humphrey Ranger, and a Spartan Blades Horkos...

But today I came home to find one of these sitting in the mailbox... My wife, who has been watching me move into this fixed blade knife phase of my life, has decided to go all in and bought me a knife making kit so that I can finish my own new knife. And, I am really excited about it.

I have no idea what to do next, but I'm excited...

To me, the ignorant knife person, it's a make you're own knife kit...

But, you are right... The blade is already shaped and sharpened. I just need to glue on the cocobolo slabs, with the brass fittings, and then shape them on a bench sander. I guess I need to polish them after that. I don't really know where to start.

I guess the first order of business is to go buy a bench sander.

I watched this video. He made it look pretty easy...

What wood material is that? Beautiful!

If you wanna bring it to the house some weekend you can use my tools and I'll coach ya.
That would be awesome! And we still need to get together to make a kydex holster for my HK45CT... Thre just is not enough time in the day.

If you order the kit, he lets you pick the wood slabs...

Cocobolo, curly maple, burl, ironwood, etc...

My wife covered her eyes and randomly clicked one. I got cocobolo.

And, these are stock photos off the website. I'm sure he polished those slabs before taking the pics.

The slabs in my box are raw and dull colored, but I know they are going to look beautiful after I sand and polish them.

Yup. This weekend and next are busy but afterward my weekends open up a bit.

Make sure you wear a respirator or mask when sanding that cocobolo. The dust can be pretty gnarly

Cool gift, blade looks awesome
Will look really nice when completed!
Keep us posted
