Black Powder Roasting Company

I tried the Prospector's Gold this morning and it turned out to be pretty good.
Although I can't remember if I did the 2 tablespoon per 6 oz of water or per 5 oz of water ratio. The kids were a little distracting this morning trying to "help" dad make coffee. ;)

So it was either 10 or 12 slightly rounded tablespoons for 30 oz of water.

I did call a little while ago and they recommend 12 grams of coffee per 8 oz of water.
I also found on their website where they suggest 7 grams of coffee per 5.2 oz of water.
So I guess I am going to go get a little kitchen scale and start doing this stuff like a Colombian drug lord! :D

BTW, not sure who I spoke to on the phone, but they were very friendly and helpful. I look forward to trying the rest with their ratios!
I'm going to convert mine to kilos.

Seriously, I'm pleased with the coffee that I got. I went to their website and sent them a message thanking them for our discount and received a very nice email back from Melissa along with an invitation to stop by whenever I was in the area.

Is no one else going to comment on how there were no objections to dude talking about posting a pic in his boxers? lol

I will need to order some of this soon, southern pecan sounds great.

Gonna PM those pics to you in the morning

Tried the Peaberry Blend today using 28 grams to 20 oz of water. Another good one, but I think it needs a little more coffee to water.

EDIT:
Also tried the Tanzania Peaberry today using 31.3 grams to 20 oz. It had a nice flavor, but the finish was a bit sour. Perhaps too much coffee or not enough water on that one.

This morning I had a couple of more cups of the Peanut Butter. This time I used the filter cups for the Keurig and I found that the coffee had a lot more peanut butter flavor than when I used the percolator.

Is more PB flavor a good or bad thing? :D
First, I don't like flavored coffee, I drink my coffee black. Second, I'm a peanut butter junkie. I'll try anything peanut butter. When I saw this coffee, I had to try it. When drinking it, I don't really consider it coffee.
My wife loves flavored coffee. She actually has a lot of flavoring and a little coffee. She tried the peanut butter and said if it has some half and half in it, she would like it.
To answer your question, yes, more flavor is better.

I think the percolator and regular coffee maker steams some of the flavor out

Sounds like a 1980's American made vehicle... Mixing metric and imperial in the same product.

Picked up 2 sampler packs (med roast and flavored). Discount is 5% if anyone is wondering...$53.54 for both samplers. Each sampler is (5) 4 oz bags of coffee.

Coffee Review: Black Powder Coffee - Bourbon Infused Costa Rica Coffee

Bottom line:
You really smell the bourbon as soon as you open the bag! This coffee is very smooth, lightly roasty and the bourbon flavor is much more subtle than the smell. Truly outstanding coffee!

Finally made it through the two sample/variety packs we ordered. So far the Colombia medium has been our favorite. Will order a whole bean bag and see if I can keep from messing up the grind! ;)

We settled on 30 grams coffee/20 oz water for the mediums. Slightly less for lighter and/or finer ground and slightly more (~32 grams) for darker and/or courser ground.

I finished off my Peanut Butter coffee this morning so, I just ordered another bag. Along with the Peanut Butter I also ordered a bag of Southern Pecan Pie flavored coffee.

I forgot about this sponsor. Going to order something from them instead of Black Rifle Coffee and give it a test drive.

I still have some of the One Eyed Jack and I really like it, too. The Peanut Butter coffee took me by surprise. I normally don't like flavored coffee but I found myself liking this.

Giving it a try. Like that I can get course grind. Works better for my camping coffee pot!

Edit: don't make me post making it in a thong....

We're not gonna make you, we hope you'll do it on your own.

As a non-coffee drinker, I'd like a little help. My wife likes Medium Roast, and does not like flavored coffees.

I stayed away from the Peaberry Blend because I thought it was berry flavored. Ended up ordering the Pride In Motion Blend, which juts shipped today. Anybody had both of those and have a preference?

Any other non-flavored medium roast options you like, and the reason(s) why?

Thanks.

Peaberry is a special type of bean not a flavoring. They are very good but I have not tried from BPR Co yet.

I like the One Eyed Jack but it isn't Medium roast. It may be a little too strong for her.

Why don't they have a forum? Where will I ask my question?

Here I guess...

So I bought this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y27W76B/ and I'm enjoying the cold brew coffee. I notice amazon is full of bags of coffee for cold brewers. I'm wondering if this is a real thing or marketing hype, and which of their coffees they'd recommend for my cold brewer.

Don’t know how I missed this before. My wife and MIL love trying different coffee and this is nearby too. I’ll definitely have to tell her to swing by.

On my last re-order I got another bag of Peanut Butter and I also got a bag of Southern Pecan Pie this time. I like the Peanut Butter better but my wife really likes the Southern Pecan Pie. I think it's a good product and a good company.

@Geezer can you describe the PB flavored coffee? Hard for me to imagine.

It's hard to imagine and describe. I love peanut butter and when I saw they had peanut butter flavored coffee, I had to try it. I drink my coffee black and tried the peanut butter this way. I had to put a pack of artificial sweetener in it and then it was very good. Kinda hard to describe, coffee with a mild taste of peanut butter. It has a very good aroma to it.

Coffee
with Peanut Butter

Thinking about picking up a couple of bags of this for the wife’s birthday. She likes a darker roast but doesn’t like bitter. Probably do a flavored/infused bag and a regular bag. Any suggestions?

The PB is a no go, she’s not a fan of peanut butter, sucks for her cause she’s got a husband and 4 boys in the house that go through a large jar or more a month lol.

Welp, ordered 3 lbs today. Bag of the Autumn blend, Bag of the Good Morning blend, and a bag of the Prospectors Gold blend, all whole bean. I’ll let y’all know how she likes them once they come in. Hoping they come this coming week. I’ll make them part of her birthday gifts if so! Lol

If you are interested, you can roast beans using a hot air popper. Do it OUTSIDE b/c of the chaff and smoke, but it is a nice 12 dollar substitute for the $300 roaster........

I get mine direct from Oaxaca, and an importer in Fuquay, but I will check these people out.
