I've been wanting to redo my BOB. ATM I use a camping backpack. Going to see if I can find one in black. I see alot of people seem to use the military molle type bags. IMO I think they bring alot of attention to you. What do you think? What bag do you use? Thanks

I use a little sling bag made for travelers as a daily car bag. PacSafe I believe. It's completely innocuous and holds just enough stuff. I use my 60l camping pack for a go bag.

I have a small, like small backpack as a daily carry. And a 65 or 70L Teton Sports trail pack for the other stuff that stays in the car

Small get home bag in car:
Maxpedition Remora or Incognito Duo

Medium bag for emergencies, travel away from home:
Maxpedition Sitka (also use this as a hunting pack and as my daily laptop bag)

Large bag: (I'm leaving my home and probably never returning.....)
Maxpedition Vulture II (also use this for camping trips)

Notice a pattern? Maxpedition stuff is bombproof. I routinely overload mine, drop it, throw it in the back of trucks, etc. and I've never even had a zipper fail. Can't say that about others.

Yes many of them have MOLLE. I really don't care much about that.

And I'll second rantingredneck's comments...Maxpedition stuff is tough as hell and will last.

I have a Get Home Bag in my truck. It is an Eddie Bauer duffle bag that I bought at a thrift store.

As for the "look" of your pack bringing attention...it's my belief that if webbing/camo is enough to make you a target, then things have went far enough down the toilet that it really ain't gonna f*cking matter how your pack looks.

That said, I'm all about the gray dude concept, blending in with the populace, "when in Rome..." and what not.

Tagged for interest, I’m looking for a dull (grayish) bag/sling that won’t get metro boys or the popo nervous, and will carry a few essentials, laptop/tablet and the AR pistol.

Why not a decent sized TNF School book bag sized backpack? That’s what I have used for the last 10 years.

I'm not sure looks and brand make that big a difference. Just get something that won't fall apart on a 10 mile hike and it will work. I have a couple nice Vertx bags that are more work/BOB bags. They hold some basic gear, but mostly work stuff. I have a small ugly geeen Boyt bag that goes in the trunk for trips anywhere over an hour or so from the house. I have a bag that holds a 10/22 with some extra gear. It looks like a camping pack. I have a gray Midway bag that I am going to build into a vehicle bag for my wife. And I just grabbed a 3V Gear duffle bag on sale to check it out. Their stuff seems like a good value.

I have a small Maxpedition bag I use up at the cabin as kind of my woods man purse. It holds a pistol and spare mags, my wallet, keys, couple knives and flashlights, phone and some first aid gear. I hang it over the Gator seat when I am down in the woods working, or over my chair at the fire pit.

Well I ordered a Condor 126 bag. I have had very good luck with condor products. This bag is about the size of the max falcon ii. Should be here tomorrow.

On a side note. I bought a few things at WM to try out. Firecord, storm match's( never tried them before) and a $4 knife. The fircord works, so do the matches. The little knife has really impressed me for $4. The blade is very sharp, it locks up good, and the cheap handle has no give to it( it's plastic). Going back tomorrow to buy the other 2 they had.

Here's what's kept in my truck at home (also have a set of LBE). Bag is a old medium ALICE pack without frame. Where to store all this extra stuff I had after I retired :) Stuff is used for the most part and works. My other bag that I used for 15 years was a Camleback MULE. Used that daily for 15 years around the world carrying my BOB. Just retired it last year as the zippers started sticking. Very strong and durable 3 day bag.

Older one, couple years ago in Afghanistan again
