Looks like Borat’s replacement does an ok job. I hope it focuses on the music and isn’t a gay rights flagship. That'd be a waste of Freddie’s talent and legacy.

There was talk for years that Sasha Baron Cohen would do this movie, and I hoped it would.
But this looks awesome, I look forward to it.

You know it'll be in there, but that was his life. Dude banged dudes and died of AIDS. I won't go to the theater to see it but I'll check it out on video. Freddy was a rock god and the casting looks to be pretty good...

He was fired/quit due to creative differences with Brian May. The rumor is that Sasha wanted to explore the sexuality side far more than anyone else.

Interesting, thank you.

So, to ease some folk's fears, this will NOT focus too much on his sexual preference.
Im really pumped on this, one of the greatest vocalist of the 20th century

So I saw this Friday night.
I liked it, didnt love it.

First things first - the actor had some horrible dentures in to mimic Freddy's teeth, it just looked all wrong. I know FM had a jacked up grill, but not THAT bad.

Casting was really good, ie: Brian May looked like, well, Brian May etc

For those scared to see two dudes kiss, this movie isnt for you. You see a couple of kisses and some handholding. I know it'll keep some of you away

This is more of a focus on FM than anyone else in the band, which should be expected, but Id say 95% is Queen related, not too much into his personal life.

Great music, obviously.
Again, I liked it, didnt love it, will watch again but not in a rush at the moment.

He could eat an apple through a picket fence but he sure could sing.

Yep good movie..worth seeing..the gay stuff wasn't a big deal..a couple guy kisses...thats about it.

Go for the story and music...

And yes Rami Malek pulled off an excellent FM...

We just watched this, yesterday. I really enjoyed it. Thought the actors were believable and of course, I enjoyed the music. @Chdamn and I both wished they had covered the song writing piece a little more, such as where the inspiration for the lyrics came from. But all in all, it was well done.

Agreed. They didn’t gay it up too much which I was kinda expecting and dreading. They only had a couple quick moments of guys kissing.

My wife and I watched it last night. We both thought it was a good movie. Like quite a few very talented bright stars, he ran out of fuel way too soon.

Is it just me or did the first part of the movie seem like a movie about Mick Jagger? When he had long hair in the movie, he looked almost exactly like a Mick Jagger from the '70's. His mannerisms, voice, dancing on stage, looks, hair, eyes, etc....... looked exactly like Mick Jagger. If I didn't know the title of the movie and sat down to watch it, I'd swear it was a movie about Mick Jagger, at least during the first half.

Mercury is one of my favorite singers/Queen is one of my favorite bands. His range was incredible, and they were all ahead of their time and musical geniuses. It's funny that Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't that big of a hit....until Wayne's World, then it hit the Billboard Top 10 charts for weeks, and now it's on every classic rock radio station music loop.

I'm curious how old you are?

BR was #1 in the UK in '75 and top-10 in the US in '76. It was inescapable on rock, pop, or top-40 radio in the 70s. Then never faded, it became a "standard" like 'Stairway to Heaven' or Freebird.

Yes, Wayne's World made it blow up all over again, but it was definitely big on it's release.

Then again, I grew up in NY. The 70s still had a lot of "pocket markets" where you could be huge in Chicago, and virtually unknown in other places.

Yeah you are right...hit when it came out for a few months, but really died down. Hit again when Mercury died, but really died down. Wayne's World made it resurgent and it has had sticking power, with a much younger audience.

Rami Malek creeps me out. Won't watch the movie. Have yet to see a music biopic with an actor pretending to be a singer that I liked. I think there is a Queen concert on AXSHD this weekend. I have the Blu-Ray of Queen at Wembley ( I think thats the title). Even with all the post editing it is very good. Kinda a best of Queen live.

Thank you! I thought I was the only one. He's got weird terrorist eyes. That's why he was a good bad guy on 24. Looked like he was drinking the full glass of home-brew terrorist Kool-Aid.

Now that I resurrected this thread today, I thought I'd post a song by Queen. This brings back memories of my 6th grade crush I had on a girl with the name, Allison Elliot.

So Allison, if you're still out there wherever you are, this song is for you.:D

Actually I dedicate this song to my sweetheart of 38 years this March 13th, 31 years married, this Sept. 24th, 2019.

To my Susan:

You truly are my best friend.

He was the guy pulling the teeth of dead Japanese in The Pacific as well. He certainly does have a creepy vibe.

For the Queen fans...what did you think about their recent performance with Adam Lambert fronting the band?

Im not clicking that. I tried to watch a "Queen" live performance a year or so ago with him at vocals - hated it.

That was painful to watch. The “performance” and the crowd who had no idea what was happening or how to react to it.

We are all dumber now for their answer. I award them no points. May God have mercy on their souls.

I have that clip on my flashdrive at school. For the kids who I have a relationship with sometimes I'll play that if I know they'll not be offended and get the joke.
