Welcome to Lagers Hack Shack and I usually hang out in the Motorcycle or garage section showing what NOT to do as you work on your car or motorcycle. Todays episode is how not to boil eggs. Do not put eggs on a gas stove in the garage at 7 pm and forget about them. Was on the ball and chains facebook acct this morning at about 9 am and saw a pic of a chicken, then thought Egg, then thought " Uh oh" and ran to the garage thats across the yard. The ball and chain yells at me as I leave the house at a run " Where you going? " I opened the garage door and its smells like heck in here and its all smokey. There are bits of blackened egg splattered all over the garage, some as much as 10 feet away. Here is what's left of the pan after 5 eggs. I'm going to be finding egg shell bits in this garage years from now.

My mother left a soup bone on her stove, and left the house, which was a little retirement cottage.

When she returned home there was so much smoke she called the fire department. She had cremated that bone.

Even after one of those disaster recovery outfits painted and defunked the house it smelled weird every time you’d walk in till she moved to assisted living.

This why you dont put eggs on to boil then proceed to look at Motorcycle and Corvette porn on the computer. Hell, anyone would forget about eggs after lusting for cars and bikes.
Next time, use an instant pot, set for 5 minutes. Not only are you guaranteed a worst outcome of inedible eggs, if you do it right, you will have eggs that are easy to peel inside of 15 minutes.

Now what's the fun in that ?? You guys would have nothing to laugh at . 😁 I been doing this for years and years,, first time I forgot.. Luckily my Wife did it about 10 years ago so she couldn't complain. Not like I care about her complaining, that's why God gave us garages to go to.

Similar situation… years back, a tenant was cooking dinner on the stove top. As they were cooking, there was a power outage. So, they decide to go out for dinner, in hopes the power was back on when they returned. Needless to say, they forgot they were cooking when the power went out and didn’t cut the burner off or remove the pan/food from the cooktop. Power came back on while they were away and cooking resumed. The food caught on fire and the fire burner the vent fan. Luckily, that was all the damage.

Also, on another note…. When cooking in the oven, make sure your stove actually cuts off. My went defective once, while / after I was cooking some wings at 500°. After cooking, I cut the oven off…. Or so I thought. A malfunction in an internal switch Allowed the oven to stay on at 500°. I can back to the oven, later … just before bed and felt that it was the temperature of the sun. Could have been a big problem if I didn’t happen to swing by before bed.

PSA…don’t cook at home. Eat out!

Are you the reincarnation of my mother in law? She did that all the time. She would put a pot of something on and turn it up high and then go sit down in the living room. Burned stuff all the time.

That makes no sense at all.
Well, put an egg in a pressure cooker, bring it up to ~240 deg F for 5 minutes and let it sit for 45 minutes while it naturally cools down. You’ll have a white leather jacket surrounding a khaki green and gray, way over cooked yolk. Yum.

They make an apparatus specifically for hard boiling eggs. Plugs in the wall, has a timer, uses like two tablespoons of water. Wife has one, fire and forget.

Then you not doing it right. We go through a dozen + a week. Great every time.

Wish I had gotten a pic of the pot. My midget forgot a pot of green beans on the stove the other day cause she was still trying to work and scorched the beans and the pot. It was funny

Take a raw in the shell egg and wrap it in a slice of raw beacon. Place on top of a beer bottle and let it ripe for a few months. Then the bobby trap is set. One slight touch and pow.

Your wife needs to beat you with a leather belt after you write "I will not leave the stove when cooking" 100 times.

I like whole milk and raw chicken in a mason jar after a week for area denial.

I recently discovered these at Food Lion. They’re already boiled, come with a salt and pepper packet, and are delicious!

Are you looking for a career in Foodservice? That’s nothing compared to what I see morons do on a daily basis.

Try a pot of pinto beans. Mom left them on low, plenty of water, aunt came in, thought she was turning them off, left them on high instead. Got house clean, never got pot clean, dog would not even eat out of it.
