bond arms or other derringers

I have a 380/9mm derringer. I have a set of barrels in each caliber.

You are better off buying a Ruger LCP in 380. 7 shots versus 2 and it probably weighs less than the derringer. The best thing is with the LCP you actually stand a chance of hitting what you're aiming at and the second shot doesn't take as long to get off.

A derringer is just for shits and giggles.

9mm out of a derringer is a hand stinger. Painful.

Yep. I almost bought one of the Bond Arms. NEVER considered it for carry. As @Grits said, just for shits and giggles. A range toy/BBQ gun sort of thing.

And yes, the LCP is a great choice for all the reasons mentioned. Relatively inexpensive too.

Talk about a stinger, I have a derringer.45LC; I thought it will be a good snake slayer using .410 shells but an emphatic NO, I do not recommend.

I had one in.357
Ouch.
It was about accurate at 7 yards as a barn door. And heavy.

I have a Bond in several calibers. It is heavy and rather large with the jumbo rosewood grips. I do carry it on my person occasionally but it is always with me in the truck, loaded with 000 buck. I think 10 .36 cal pellets in two shots would be hard to dodge. My wife carries a Bond in a CCW pocketbook and loves it for the margin of error a shotgun shell allows and the safety/simplicity of the platform. It is a heavy handgun though. " Veight is sign of vealiabity"

I have two doubletaps. One in 9 mm and the other in .45 acp. I can consistently hit a man size target with both at 7 yards. The 9mm is a stinger to shoot and the 45 is downright painful with factory loads. I handload that one down to .40 s&w equivalent energy and made some other modifications that make it bearable (barely). My daughter carries the 9 in her purse and I occasionally carry the .45 when I want very deep concealment and am lightly dressed. I don't really recommend either one unless you want a last ditch " get off me gun" or maybe as a backup. The problem with these weapons are the difficulty in practicing with them because the recoil is so difficult to manage.

I bought a Bond Arms Backup in .45 acp a few months ago and sold it after about a couple weeks of messing around with it. Wanted to try this small .45acp cannon out, or thought I did. I did not like the trigger, so stupid, pull back and down. I couldnt do it with one hand. Ridiculous. They couldve put a normal revolver like trigger in it, I would've kept it then. Recoil stung a little bit, wasnt too bad though.

Never saw the appeal of derringers, but some folks are drawn to them. I know I don't want to shoot one.

I had one in 9mm, made a great snake gun with the CCI shot shells. With actual 115gr 9mm rounds... yea no. Sold it here on the forum, included a box of the 9mm shot shells, hopefully the new owner has put down some snakes and rats, as that's what it's best for.

I have wanted one off and on, mostly as a commuter gun against carjacking since my girth makes it hard to get to a gun with a seatbelt on.

Based on this thread I won’t bother to buy one.

My son in law has a Bond in 45LC/410. It is good for what it is made for, a get off me gun! If you miss with the 2 shots you can always use it to knock your assailant out!

That is something else, the Bond is a quality piece of machining. Some of those other cheapo derringers scare me a little.

My 45 Colt/410 had a terrible trigger. I took off the trigger guard so I could get a better push on the trigger. The barrels did not shoot to the same place with 45 Colt. I did not mind the recoil. I gave it to a friend because she took a liking to it. It was a well built and solid gun.
