Bow and Arrow Attack in Norway

Guy ended up killing five with his knife and apparently struck no one with an arrow. So maybe "attack" is over-dramatic. I'd like to say I'd have the mental acuity to recognize a dude with a bow and arrows where there ought not to be one.

OSLO, June 24 (Reuters) - A Norwegian court sentenced a man to psychiatric care on Friday after finding him guilty of stabbing to death five people and attempting to murder 11 others with a bow and arrow.

Espen Andersen Braathen, 38, a Danish citizen who has lived his whole life in Norway, had pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him after his rampage in the small Norwegian town of Kongsberg last year.

Psychiatrists evaluating Braathen found that he suffered from mental illness, and prosecutors had recommended that he should be held in a medical facility rather than being sentenced to prison.

When I used to bow hunt used Rocket Hammerhead broadheads - literally blew the right shoulder off of a small buck I shot on the left - brought some lung and heart chunks out with it too - definitely a nasty (but quick) way to go!

I do not know other‘s effective range of bows (and his wasn’t a compound bow either) but mine is a self-imposed 35 to 40 yards and broad target. Yeah, I know guys can reach 60 yards but the dude in the video had little skill … and a swear that recurve didn’t even look strung correctly. Anyway … Norway does have strict gun laws for civilians but why the hell did the LEO’s take so long that the guy was able to go to knives and then actually hurt/kill people? Were they from Uvalde because they sure were not related to Eli from Indiana.

Ahhhh … England has. You have to be over 18 to buy a small knife and do not even think about carrying a simple pocket knife with a blade over 3” … and it can’t be a fixed blade or locking blade either. Some other European countries have adopted or are looking into similar laws. In 20 or 30 years after the liberals have taken our single shot Ruger No 1’s and double barrel shotguns here they’ll be coming for our knives … if not sooner.

Looks like the bow string is too long for that bow.
