Does steadying a rifle by bracing the mag well against a hard object affect accuracy or POI? I know not to lay the barrel over a hard object or brace the butt of the stock against an immovable object, but have never heard whether pressing the front of the mag well against a hard object should be avoided.

Magwell makes no difference at all. Some mags will induce feeding problems if you rest an AR on the bottom of the mag or push against front, back, and/or sides. Just leave the mag free if possible and brace on the well.

Only problem I ever had bracing with the magwell was that any kaboom is going to leave via the magwell. If it can't, it's going to make its own way out.

It's not an issue. POI is affected most by (ammo excluded) type of handguard. If your latest tacticool rail system locks on at the receiver and FSB, then it can affect POI. Go with a front guard that free floats the barrel and that goes away. One other thing that affects POI is barrel heating up during a string. Heavy barrels are less affected than the thin ones.
