I've always enjoyed British gangster flicks....Some of my favorites are:

Get Carter
Layer Cake
The Long Good Friday
Snatch
London Boulevard
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Rock N Rolla
Legend
Sexy Beast
44 Inch Chest
The Heavy
The Take

Watched Train Spotting T2 last night. Kinda UK gangsta. Better than the 1st one I tought.

Not sure if it qualifies as a gangster flick but “Harry Brown” with Michael Caine is a good British movie. Retired British Marine becomes vigilante.

I liked London Boulevard as well.

Blitz with Jason Statham is also good....renegade British cop

Also, The Sweeney is another good one

I haven't seen The Sweeny movie, but I have watched the old TV series...I should watch the movie if for no other reason than it stars Ray Winstone, one of the absolute best actors working today.

Is "The Blitz" the movie where Staham whacks knuckle heads w/ a cricket bat?

That’s the one!

Another TV series I really liked is "Spotless"

While this one is actually an Australian Gangster flick, it certainly belongs here.

Animal Kingdom.....Awesome dark family crime flick about a family of thugs led by the Grandmother....Jackie Weaver is phenomenal in this!

The American series on TNT, which is based on this movie, is also excellent with Ellen Barkin taking on the role of the Grandmother (Jackie Weaver's role).
