Broke down…..

Yep all mine get an OEM extended mag release... and a butt plug. $20 should get it done.

Finally got my first Glock, G19 Gen3. Not broken it in yet, but I have shot others.

Not real happy w the size of the mag release button. Anyone ever upgrade theirs?View attachment 554249
Get a Vickers extended release. Makes a huge difference.

I read once that glock left the grip hollow, in the back, with the hole open, so that if it was submerged in water the water could easily escape out the bottom. Don't know how true this is. But, that same article said not to use the plug in the bottom of the grip because it would hold that water in longer and not allow it to drain quickly.

Catfish has about 7 layers of clothing on at all times; that Glock ain't getting wet.

It probably does help drain some, but all the plugs I have seen aren’t really that sealed off, so water would still come out pretty easily. In the mean time, it does help keep some lint and grime out.

Not a problem for me. I should have mentioned that I also seal around the plug and fill the void with CLP. Then I make a pinhole at the top of the frame and every time I do a tactical roll my Glock cleans and lubes itself.

I left mine alone. I tried an extended slide release in the 90’s, and removed the long one off my G34 last year. The bigger levers/buttons seem to catch on stuff when you least want it.
I see no reason for a plug, unless you’re storing something in there. So what if there’s some dust in a blind hole.

The best answer is get a Gen 4 or 5 .it has the bigger mag release. I honestly carry an Sig P365 mostly now but I was carrying a Glock 43 and Gen 3 19. The 19 Gen 3 is the second best in my own personal opinion only to the Gen 2. They are simple guns that work & are reliable. Enjoy it and shoot the mess out of it

Be very careful with extended mag releases....I have had several LEs through here with extended mag releases that will sling the mag out with an Aggressive draw stroke....................end up with a single shot gun......One was a DEHEC Agent that did it Everytime...
This is my experience too. I had a Glock 43 with a Vickers extended mag release and I took it off after a week. I would sit down at the chair and my mag would fall out. I would draw it from the holster and it would be hanging out slightly. I changed it back to OEM.

Actually, I believe it's designed to allow your thumb to get up in there for a forced mag extraction. It mates up with the crescent shaped cutout on the back of the mag well. But, I have no documentation on that.
Not many people who have changed out mag and slide release on Glocks.
No, not many. Otherwise, there would be a whole industry on Glock accessories.

You should rig up an automatic oiler, like a chainsaw. Then you can run it wet all the time.

I too have backed away from some "high speed" accessories for reliability reasons.

Worded wrong by me- Not Many Haven’t changed out slide releases and mag releases. Glock knows people alter it yet they do not improve both because as stock less likely something goes wrong and they find themselves in a civil suit. Same reasons you get a 5.5 lb trigger on many gun brands.

I thought you were just being sarcastic and I was following suit.

I think companies not always including the latest, greatest improvements fall into the artificial ignorance model. They know these things are great, but for financial, marketing or liability purposes, they don't implement them immediately if at all.

Ladies and germs, this is posted out front.

Vickers for the gen 3 is nothing but an extended OEM with the sides of the button radiused a little.
This can be done by the end user at a significant savings.
I have tried the extended slide lock but have returned to the original. My big fingers would press against it sometimes preventing the gun from locking open on an empty mag.
I have not experienced the situations stated about the extended mag release and still use them.
