Simple. Don’t give them even a platform to bitch about. Don’t have conversation, don’t acknowledge their presence, and ignore it all. Time cures all things. Eventually with no progress they will tire of this and move on to other fun.

The first thing I would do is announce no further gifts to the local college as a backlash. Maybe the president will tell the f#$&ing professors to shut up and take a seat. Money talks.

Just for fun I would let out a rumor Brownell’s is looking for a friendlier and tax incentive location. The town council will get real nervous.

Punish places that don't like you (them)... reward places that do like you (us). The solution is simple for all of these companies (move).

They can move in blueberry farms or whatever the !@#$ it is that makes them happy. Obviously dollarbux or good neighbors don't make them happy.

In anyplace but Iowa, the college leftists would be equally outraged about the Monsanto plant.

I read to this point in the article:

People certainly knew that their good, generous neighbor subsidizes their quality of life with money earned in the gun industry in a state where gun deaths run nearly neck and neck with drug overdose deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Then scanned farther. It was just enough to confirm the NYT's condescending "see? we're the good, compassionate people just trying to have a conversation" tone.

The Brownell's response - silence - to the utterly disengnuous "invitations" to chat is spot on. Ignore them; they won't go away, but they don't deserve to have their views' existence acknowledged.

And yes, Brownell's should suspend or stop all their community support and let the people who just want a conversation pick up the $lack.
