Dunno if this has come up before, but what's the deal with members who never interact outside the BST area? Just seems odd to me. There's one member with a bit over 150 posts, every single one in BST aside from one post in the 'members migrating & changing name' thread.

WTH? I don't get it. Dude's got nothing but 'FS- XYZ' in just over a year. We're good enough to make money off of, but not worthy to converse with with? Maybe no one else cares & no idea if there's a mechanism to 'fix' it, but it chaps my backside & refuse to buy from folks who never post outside the BST area.

Meh, if they’ve got something I want for a deal, and are nearby, I’ll take a look.
A newbie recently posted something I wanted, they’re hours away, it’s not worth it. If they were a regular stable hand, it would have been bought sight unseen.

The forum rules permit listing in BST without any minimum posts or tenure on the forum. So, why not?

There are a couple posters who never really post outside of the BST- but they have been members since the beginning and before at both former sites.
One I've made several deals with, the other none due only to lack of funds.

Not really a big deal. Wheelin' and dealin' is their thing.

Maybe they just want to mind their own business and buy, sell, or trade a gun. The deeper question is why do you care so much what other people do or don’t do?
1) there are plenty of places where they can list their junk for sale.
2) I don’t contribute to this forum for these non members to make a buck.
3) while I generally avoid them, my limited experience, is that most of them have bad attitudes.
4) it gets annoying to click on ‘new posts’ only to see one of these squatters has taken a bump dump on the carpet filling the page.

It takes almost zero effort to ignore them.

It isn’t against the rules.

Their ads may draw others to the site who then become active members.

Yip

I do look, but they don't have "deals" per se because they cross post everywhere. I mean if it is a "non chatter" that I am not that familiar with and they have something I want I will still buy it. I am just a little more "prepared" when I meet them out by the dumpsters behind the likker sto.

It’s most annoying when their explanation point and caps lock key stick.

So...I read this and thought “yeah...but it’s not that bad...”

Then literally a few posts down I see an add with !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So...yeah...

@NoNameHaveI

Whatever. I guess small insults amuse small minds.
The truth isn’t an insult friend, it’s the truth, you are whining like an upset small child, I pointed it out, doesn’t take a giant intellect such as yours to understand I’m sure. :D:D:D

I found this forum when I was looking to sell a handgun and while I'm definitely not the most contributing person here, I have met several good folks and hopefully will be going fishing with one of them soon.
Not everyone that finds this place via the BST stays there.
ETA: I'd also love to make my way to one of @BatteryOaksBilly's range days or one of the other get together's yall have if I can get time off work to do it.

While I hate the idea of forums charging people to post in BST sections, I also dont mind there being a minimum post count in the other areas before using the BST for your personal classifieds.
We do have a handful of folks who come here and post only there, and usually multiple threads at a time...which means bumping each one at the same time. You hit 'new posts' and there's a string of 10 threads by one person youve never heard of TTTing his posts.
I get the OPs complaints.
But, not my house, not my rules.

This is slightly annoying since 'new posts' is 99.9% of how I view the forum.
Many things are, life goes on, here I have the perk of just scrolling on by.
I guess if my 1st page ends up entirely BST ads by a handful of folks I'll get busy with the blockin.

After more thinking, I have changed my mind on the minimum post idea. I still think I would have stuck around if that had been the case but others probably wouldn't. Plus as a few have said, some people just don't have much to say.
Just my revised 0.02.

It ain't that bad here. Get on to Carolina shooters club and have yours eyes bleeding in about eight minutes.
What kinda rankles is when they won't even go to intro's and say hey Gomer. Maybe that wasn't important 'back home' but it's the Carolina thing to do and I'd appreciate it if you'd at least shake my hand before you try to get in my wallet.

I don't care so much. I just find it rather low-rent.

Absolutely. Believe me, I'm a 'big boy' & know how to keep on scrollin'. Like @NCLivingBrit pointed out, seems like some of 'em are running a business. If that's the case they should pony up as a vendor.

Yep. Easy to spot 'em that way. I'm neither a big seller, nor a big buyer, but I occasionally eyeball something in the BST being offered by a newb or someone with a super low post count & think 'nope, not gonna chance it', but 'New Posts' getting logjammed by the 10+ post they've TTT'd that day is aggravating.

This crap happens on all types of forums, with guitar forums being the worst offenders, IMO. I'm with you. Say howdy, jaw a spell & if you have something I gotta have, we'll talk terms, but if all I 'know' of you is that you're apparently only here to sell shit, I'ma keep on trucking.

Seriously, I'm not butt-hurt about it all. Just find it bemusing & low class.

If they won't talk I figure they're a foreign spy.

I'm fairly low in post count on this forum although been here a while, and I have used the BST both ways. A lot of you knew me or interacted with me on the old forum. While my post count is low, I am on the forum almost everyday learning something, and I will contribute what little I can in knowledge or thoughts if a thread interests me. I do see the posters that your referring to on a regular basis, my question would be more of a how are you going to sit and bump all your ads for 2-3 weeks with no takers or seeable interest in the thread and not realize that your prices may be the problem. Reasonably priced items go pretty quick round here. Now on the other side of the coin is this, I would like to contribute more, but I also have two school aged children to take to school, pick up from school, homework, activities, quality time, etc. I also run one EMS service and work part time at another to make extra money for the kids and I to have fun with. I don't always have the time to post and interact with everyone to make them happy, and maybe, just maybe, some of these others yer bitchin about are in the same boat.

There are a lot of people that supplement their income by selling online. Doing so here probably eliminates 99% of the nut jobs/con artists you deal with if you post items on Craigslist.

I've said it a bunch of times. My first post at the old place was a BST, and I've sold to a bunch of guys who post very little but been here/there/the other place a long time. All great guys as far as I could tell.

Could we try this, During the first 3 months of membership you're limited to 2 items in the BST. During months 4 to 8 you can have 4 items at once in the BST and after 8 months you can have as many as you desire.
That would separate the wheat from the chafe.... Professional sellers wouldn't hang out that long but casual sellers probably would...
