So I get situated up in my treestand, take my scope caps off and look through my scope and the lower 3rd is distorted. I cleaned glass but no change. After hunting I stop by my brothers and we shine a light and there appears to be a bubble in lower 3rd area of front lens. I come home ready to take scope off but after checking it bubble is now gone!! I said, okay must be tempature related. So I sat gun back out in cold for an hour, still no bubble, I sat gun in front of heater for an hour, still no bubble. Other than the few hours sitting in treestand the bubble is gone. I was guessing a seal was busted and air was getting in scope but now I can't duplicate issue. Scope is a burris fullfield 2-7x35. Hate to remove scope and start over but my luck it will be fine until the best hunting days next year and it will be unusable! What do you guys think is going on?

Condensation on the front (outside) of the lens?

No I wiped lens multiple times. The bubble disappeared on its own! It's crazy!

Is the scope set or adjustable?

I’m wondering if the bubble issue is occurring at higher or lower magnification.

Edit. I see now it’s 2-7. Same question.

Yup I’m going with moisture inside. It can be hard to replicate since it’s both temp and moisture dependent.

As I zoomed in the bubble decreased. Just weird that it won't do it again. I also just remember the last time I used it it was raining. Not pouring, but steady drizzle at times. It definitely got some water on it. I think some moisture worked its way in.

This is what it sounds like. How long was it in the cold on the morning you noticed the distortion? I’m wondering if an hour in the cold is enough, if was not at the same temperature it may take longer than a hour.

It was it my truck for about 2 hours previously. Then only out in 50 degree weather for about 30min. Before I noticed it. I've started a claim with burris. I'll probably just send it in and see what they say.

How's the warranty? If covered, take it off, warm it up (~100deg) for a bit to expand the internal gas, submerge in cold water. If it's got a leak, it'll suck water in & hopefully be repaired/replaced by Burris.
