I was able to complete a serious bucket list item today.

He was a legend.
Without his contribution and sacrifice ours snipers would have suffered.
Reading his book as a kid is what inspired my life long obsession with sniper craft.

Rest easy Gunny,
With any luck we shall meet in Valhalla.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gunnery Sergeant Hathcock (and Gunner Henderson, the author of the books) at my Marine Corps League. He took us up on our offer to take him shark fishing (he loved shark fishing). At the time I was in the Reserves in a Scout/Sniper ("STA" back then) platoon. We had a quiet night with him at the League's bar/lounge (he drank ginger ale). He talked to us about the Marine Corps past and present, asked lots of questions about the current sniper program as it pertained to us, and signed our 93 Confirmed Kills books.
Humbling experience.

I met him once for 2 minutes about 30 years ago, got an autographed pic. Phenomenal Marine.

@Spartan01 , where is his grave??

It’s in Norfolk.
I god’s to the graveyard, then entered the Long/Lat coordinates, they are sniper accurate.
Gunny, and his wife, who passed in 2016.
The grave stones had some overgrown weeds, I took care of those.8B091811-E613-46E4-88FD-B7C2C1F1CCCE.jpeg
