Caught this on Fox News Sunday this morning. A former Marine named Tim Day founded an organization of volunteer buglers to play Taps at veteran's funerals. Since all the government can provide, apparently, is a CD to be played.
Fifty some years ago I participated in many veteran funerals as an honor guard member out of Lejeune. If you have never attended a veteran's funeral and heard Taps played and seen the reaction of the attendees let me tell you it is something that will stay with you forever.
You can read about the organization here............ https://www.buglesacrossamerica.org/
The video of the Fox segment is here........ https://video.foxnews.com/v/6041256111001/#sp=show-clips
If you feel, as I do, that a vet deserves something more than a crappy CD of Taps at his funeral you might be inclined to donate to help this former Marine keep this going.
I was planning on sending him a check today but decided to spread the word first and see what happened.
If you do donate please post up the amount in this thread. Next Sunday (June 2nd) I'll total up the posted amounts and match them up to $500 and do it in the name of CFF.
According to the story on Fox News, what donations this guy gets from foundations and ordinary folks still leaves him out of pocket to the tune of several thousand dollars a year.
Let's give him a hand.
