Anyone have or used one. I am looking at them for my 300blk rifle. I have always had good luck with burris optics and want to try one of these out. I have leupolds on my other guns but the butris had a nice price tag of $500
Thanks

I have one (3-15x) on my "DMR" rifle. I think the XTR-IIs are grossly underrated, I have several.

I am looking to swap this one out for the 5-25x though, so if you'd be interested in mine let me know.

Thanks for the info and i’ll keep you in mind if i decide for sure i want one.
Couple ?’s
Are these illuminated? Picture show it is but burris site says the 3-15 is not but the 5-25 is

How is the glass clarity compared to other scopes you may have. I have a vx-5 hd, 3-9x40 freedom and a mark 3 hd 6-18x50
Thanks

I had never really had interest in them until recently I got to use a couple as one of my shooting buddies has two XTRii and one XTRiii and I was very impressed with glass clarity and turret tracking. Id definitely consider one when I am in the market for a new optic. I like the reticle options also.

Putting mine up for sale soon

I need to consolidate rifles and focus on just what I use!

The glass is the downfall of the XTR series. It will not be anywhere close to being on par to the VX5. The glass is comparable to bottom tier Leupold, which is decent, just not great. Everything else about the XTR is very good.

I have a leupold freedom and am happy with the Glass on it. So the burris will be about the glass clarity as the freedom? I am more interested in the reticle and the turrets on the burris mostly.

If you are happy with the freedom glass, then you will be pleased. I can't speak on the reticle, that's a personal preference. Everything else on the XTR is good imo.

^this is exactly my experience with an XTR ii 3-15x. Tracks well. Seems well constructed. Glass quality is disappointing. If one is looking for optical clarity and minimal chromatic aberration, this isn’t the scope to choose. at 31 oz, there are also lighter options. I’d personally go with a leupold VX-3, VX-5 or a vortex razor LHT 3-15x over the XTR II. Meopta or even an SWFA would be on my list to compete with the XTR II.

Maybe it’s my eyes but i can’t tell much of a difference between my freedom and my vx5 hd 3-15x44
Do what works for you. Everyone's perception , vision, preferences ,etc. may not be the same.

For "gauging" glass..... I have some trees out back, 200 yards or so. I would set the scopes on the same zoom and focus on something small such as a leaf or group of leaves, depending on the zoom. I did this at different times of the day, with varying lighting conditions, positions of the sun, etc. The XTR glass quality was on par with a vx2, which is not bad by any means, it just wasn't on par with a MK5 HD, which has the same glass as your VX5. The VX5/MK5 series has great glass. If you are happy with the Freedom series glass, I'm sure you would be happy with the XTR.

I have two of them 3-15, and 5-25. They are pretty good for the price but if you can get a VX-3 or 5, or a Razor 3-15 brand new in the box for around $500 then go with them. ;)

The
leupold vx3 hd 4.5-14x40 sf with tall capped target turrets is $695 shipped
Burris xtr-ii 3-15x50 is $535 shipped
Vortex viper pst Gen 2 5-25x50 is $665 shipped
Those are the 3 i am eying the most. I know the quality of the leupold and dad has a 3-15 pst gen 2 and i like it pretty good but everything i read say i will have to use the vortex warranty at some point. Never had a problem out of my burris drop-tines or E1’s and rt-6’s In the last 3 years i have been using burris
